Hello everyone! Donna Salazar here with a tutorial on a mixed media scrapbook page using Girlie Grunge Art Medium, Pigment Powders – Gold + Brown, E-Z Stars and Creative Photo Corners. I’ll be sharing some ideas on how to embellish chipboard letters and how to create my background.
The background was created with the Gel Press mono-printing plate. I’ve made several grungy prints like this by doing a “pick-up” print (aka cleaning the plate off). The backgrounds look so cool that they have inspired me to scrapbook more!
I cut a piece of cardboard to 8.5 x 11″ and trimmed the paper down so the cardboard would show. I used Creative Photo Corners White to adhere the photo to the background. I also used the E-Z Runner® Grand Dispenser on the back of the photo. I used Creative Photo Corners Kraft to adhere the paper to the cardboard. I also used the E-Z Runner® Grand Dispenser on the back of the paper.
I used E-Z Stars Runner® Refillable Dispenser to randomly place stars on the background.
I then used a paintbrush to burnish some Pigment Powder Brown into the stars.
*TIP* To remove the excess Pigment Powder from around the stars I used a white eraser.
then burnished more Pigment Powder Brown into the adhesive to add a sparkly, grungy, touch.
I, again, used a white eraser to remove the excess Pigment Powder.
I collected chipboard alphas for the title in a couple different colors as well as upper and lower case.
I painted the alphas with diluted Girlie Grunge Art Medium then used a fluffy paint brush to add the Pigment Powder Gold.
I dried the letters then adhered them to the layout using undiluted Girlie Grunge Art Medium.
I used a fine point permanent marker to outline the stars, the chipboard alphas, and also add a bit of doodling and journaling as the finishing touches.
In this close up you can see the yummy gold texture that the title has because of the Pigment Powder as well as a bit of the doodling and outlining I did.
This is a great close up of the Pigment Powder and E-Z Stars as well as the grungy layered background paper (you can see a hint of my Cascading Circles die cut from Spellbinders).
In this close up you can see more of the E-Z Stars, the background, and how I used the Creative Photo Corners.
