Hi everyone! \u00a0It’s Kelly here today to share a few thoughts about my latest scrapbook layout.<\/p>\n

Have you ever hung around with 13-year-old girls and really listened to what they talk about? \u00a0I have the pleasure of doing so on a regular basis because of my youngest daughter and her friends.<\/p>\n

Most days, they \u00a0make me laugh…with their funny stories and playfulness. \u00a0They are still at that age of awkward innocence, trying to figure out who they are, but not taking themselves too seriously.<\/p>\n

But sometimes they make me feel sad, when I hear them commenting on their appearances, and the words “ugly” and “fat” are thrown about. \u00a0It’s hard for me to bite my tongue, and last week when my daughter and her best friend were sitting in the kitchen making flower headbands, there was some negative chatter. \u00a0Right then and there I told them to put on their headbands and come outside for some photos! \u00a0I wanted them to see themselves as they truly are….young, beautiful….but most of all, I hoped they would always believe that not matter how old you are, \u00a0you can “Be Yourself”, be confident and feel good about life!<\/p>\n

And that is the story behind this layout.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a>I used the new July sketch from Canadian Scrapbooker’s Sketchy Challenge<\/a> to design this layout, and three different adhesives helped me put it all together.<\/p>\n

I used my E-Z Runner\u2122 Refillable Permanent Strips to adhere my paper:<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a>You can see that my ‘red’ E-Z Runner\u2122\u00a0Permanent Strips Refill<\/a> is inside my ‘green’ E-Z Dots\u2122\u00a0Repositionable dispenser<\/a>. \u00a0I love these interchangeable runners and dispensers!<\/p>\n

I \u00a0used the Click ‘n Stick\u2122<\/a> clear mounting squares to adhere my photo:<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

The Adhesives Sheets<\/a> were perfect to help stick down the chipboard circles:<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

Maybe seeing her photo on a layout like this will inspire one 13-year-old girl to believe she truly is beautiful! \u00a0I hope scrapbooking brings some beauty into your life too \ud83d\ude42<\/p>\n

Kelly describes her crafting style as eclectic. \u201cI love to design with a variety of themes, from vintage to cute to graphic, with some mixed media thrown in! Finding inspiration from nature, colours and my photos, I enjoy developing creative techniques and organic design elements that are original and intriguing.\u201d She loves to spend time exploring crafting in artistic mediums, playing with paper and imagining unique designs. She currently writes regular feature articles and designs for a scrapbooking magazine. Along with writing, Kelly is passionate about teaching. A former high school English teacher, she is happiest in a classroom, crafting together and having a few laughs. \u201cI always enjoy teaching in my local scrapbook stores as well as larger scrapbooking events. She currently writes regular feature articles and designs for a scrapbooking magazine. Along with writing, Kelly is passionate about teaching.
