Hey everybody, happy Wednesday! I hope you’re having a good week! What kind of cards do you create the most? For me, it’s almost<\/em> a toss-up between birthday and thank you, but definitely a few more birthday. Leslie<\/a> here with you today, sharing a tutorial for creating THE cutest birthday candle card. It’s an easy one and would be a good one to mass-produce to have extras in your stash. So let’s get started!<\/p>\n

\"Birthday<\/figure>\n

Card Base & Layers for Birthday Candle Card<\/h2>\n

WHITE CARDSTOCK:
Card base<\/strong>: 5-1\/2″ x 8-1\/2″, scored at 4-1\/4″. Either cut from a heavier weight cardstock with a trimmer and score, or use a pre-folded card base. I have some of these in my stash and they are a huge time-saver.
Front layering panel<\/strong>: 4″ x 5-1\/4″ cut from lighter weight cardstock.
Inside sentiment panel<\/strong>: 3-3\/4″ x 5″ cut from lighter weight cardstock.<\/p>\n

GREEN CARDSTOCK:
Layering panel for inside<\/strong>: 3-7\/8″ x 5-1\/8″.<\/p>\n

RED PATTERNED PAPER:
Embellishing strip for inside<\/strong>: 3-5\/8″ x 1″.<\/p>\n

Cut the Candle Pieces<\/h2>\n

Firstly, cut four pieces of patterned paper in different colors into 1″ x 3″ strips and adhere to Adhesive Sheets 4 x 6in<\/a>. Trim the top of the four pieces at a diagonal with about a 1\/2″ difference in height from left to right. Some of my strips were not quite 3″ long (I used scraps) but worked out fine anyway. <\/p>\n

Secondly, trim off the very bottom of the adhesive sheet straight across. Then cut each strip in half lengthwise so you have eight 1\/2″ wide pieces. <\/p>\n

Thirdly, slide one piece from each color pair downward and fasten together with low-tack tape. Afterwards, trim the top of those four pieces at a diagonal with about 1\/2″ difference in height from right to left. You’ll notice this direction is opposite from the first step. <\/p>\n

Create the Candles<\/h2>\n

Arrange the pieces to your liking, making sure the tops are different heights and angles. I snapped a photo so I could remember how I had them arranged on my birthday candle card (insert grin).<\/p>\n

Additionally, remove the adhesive sheet liner from the backs and adhere them to the white cardstock front layering panel. Cute candles, huh?! Draw a wick on the top of each candle with a pencil. Use a flame-shaped die to die cut eight flames, and color them accordingly. This can be a leaf die or punch; I had some rounded jewels infinity dies out on my desk. Mine were cut from white cardstock and I colored them yellow, with a bit of light orange down to darker orange. Quick coloring with no precision, as no two flames are alike and they should look somewhat whimsical.<\/p>\n

Assemble the Focal Panel for Birthday Candle Card<\/h2>\n

Use the smaller of the two sizes of Thin 3D Foam Squares White Mix<\/a> to adhere a flame above each candle. Add a little bit of sparkle overlay to them if desired. Your birthday candle card is looking good! <\/p>\n

Adhere the Layers<\/h2>\n

Using <\/a>Crafty Foam Tape White 54ft.<\/a>, adhere the focal panel to the front of the birthday candle card base.<\/p>\n

Next, adhere the red patterned paper to the inside sentiment panel. For a little interest, I adhered mine to the bottom of the panel. Now adhere this panel to the green cardstock layer. My favorite E-Z Runner\u00ae Grand Permanent Strips Refillable Dispenser<\/a> was used for all the inside panel layers. <\/p>\n

Add Sentiments & Embellishments<\/h2>\n

Stamp front and inside sentiments in black ink and cut with the coordinating dies. Apply adhesive to the back of the sentiments with the Dual Tip Glue Pen<\/a> and adhere them to the appropriate panels. <\/p>\n

Finally, add a few enamel shapes to the front and a cake die cut to the inside panel, once again using the Dual Tip Glue Pen<\/a>. <\/p>\n

Complete the Birthday Candle Card<\/h2>\n

All that’s left to do is adhere the inside panel using the E-Z Runner\u00ae Grand Permanent Strips Refillable Dispenser<\/a>. Your super cute birthday candle card is complete! <\/p>\n
