Hi crafty friends. It’s Lisa<\/a> with you today – it’s Veterans Day here in the United States and I have a special card that I’ve created for you today in honor of this truly inspirational day.<\/p>\n

\"LisaAdametz-NeverForgetPoppies-1\"<\/a><\/p>\n

I wanted to created a card that used poppies. Poppies<\/a> are used to commemorate the lives that were lost in war and are often worn in the lapels by those on Memorial Day here and by those on Veterans Day or Remembrance Day in Canada and Great Britain which falls on Nov. 11.<\/p>\n

I happen to not only LOVE poppies, but also happen to be a veteran of the United States Air Force. So, I really wanted to make this card special and say “let’s not forget those who have served”.<\/p>\n

I created a muted watercolor background with tones of grey, silver, and washed out black. Then I used a Poppy stamp from Penny Black (yes, I l\u2665<\/span>ve this stamp!) and watercolored that, too, using my Art GRIP\u00ae Aquarelle Watercolor Pencils. I stamped two areas again to watercolor, I fussy cut them, and popped them up using the 3D Foam Squares, White, Small<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Next I wanted to really frame the flowers, but not have them necessarily centered. So I used one of the 3D Foam Frames<\/a> to do just that! I gently pulled it from the carrier sheet and coated it with Wow! Embossing Glitter in Black Twinkle. So shiny!!<\/p>\n

I poked two tiny holes in the front and thread the yellow embroidery floss through from the back and tied it in a bow in the front. This is representative of tying a yellow ribbon around a tree waiting for a loved one coming home that is serving away from home. Pus, it’s just pretty. Don’t you think? I also made sure to secure the floss with a small Dodz\u2122<\/a>\u00a0which I rolled up.<\/p>\n

I embellished the front panel with a metal-look piece that I attached with staples. And I picked out the letters for my sentiment (which are self adhesive). I used my trusty E-Z Dots\u00ae Permanent Refillable<\/a> to attach each panel to the other.<\/p>\n

I think that the stark contrast of the black\/white\/grey and the colored poppies are quite beautiful and the 3D elements really lend themselves visually to this card. I hope that you think so, too. Here are some close-ups for you:<\/p>\n
