{"id":3048,"date":"2011-12-17T08:00:23","date_gmt":"2011-12-17T14:00:23","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.scrapbook-adhesives.com\/blog\/?p=3048"},"modified":"2018-07-13T12:00:54","modified_gmt":"2018-07-13T17:00:54","slug":"merry-christmas-vintage-style","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.scrapbook-adhesives.com\/blog\/2011\/12\/17\/merry-christmas-vintage-style\/","title":{"rendered":"Merry Christmas &#8211; Vintage Style Glass Block"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Holidays are in full swing, and if you are like me, this means you are busy crafting and making pretty things to give out as gifts. \u00a0For today&#8217;s post, I am showing you a quick and easy handmade glass block home decor gift using SCRAPBOOKS by 3L\u2122, Epiphany Crafts, Spellbinders, and Graphic 45 products.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-3050 size-medium\" src=\"https:\/\/www.scrapbook-adhesives.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/12\/Dec3L-300x220.jpg\" alt=\"Vintage Style Christmas Glass Block- Home Decor - by Kristen Cohen for Scrapbook Adhesives by 3L\" width=\"300\" height=\"220\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.scrapbook-adhesives.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/12\/Dec3L-300x220.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.scrapbook-adhesives.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/12\/Dec3L.jpg 500w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>I started with a glass block from a craft store. \u00a0The vintage Santa is from the Christmas Past Frames from Graphic 45. \u00a0I punched him out, and then applied an Adhesive Sheet to the back.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.scrapbook-adhesives.com\/images\/wordpress\/uploads\/2011\/12\/IMG_0552.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-3054\" src=\"https:\/\/www.scrapbook-adhesives.com\/images\/wordpress\/uploads\/2011\/12\/IMG_0552-300x225.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.scrapbook-adhesives.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/12\/IMG_0552-300x225.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.scrapbook-adhesives.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/12\/IMG_0552.jpg 500w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Once applied, because the adhesive is transparent, when you view the glass block from behind, all you will see it the pretty pattern on the back &#8211; NOT the adhesive \ud83d\ude42 \u00a0Once the Santa was applied to the block, I die cut some gorgeous poinsettias using the Layered Poinsettia die from Spellbinders. \u00a0I mixed and matched the papers and layered them using a mix of 3D Foam Squares and the NEW Thin 3D Foam Squares. \u00a0The different thicknesses allowed for a more realistic depth to the flowers.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.scrapbook-adhesives.com\/images\/wordpress\/uploads\/2011\/12\/Dec3L3.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-3052\" src=\"https:\/\/www.scrapbook-adhesives.com\/images\/wordpress\/uploads\/2011\/12\/Dec3L3-300x225.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.scrapbook-adhesives.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/12\/Dec3L3-300x225.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.scrapbook-adhesives.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/12\/Dec3L3.jpg 500w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.scrapbook-adhesives.com\/images\/wordpress\/uploads\/2011\/12\/Dec3L2.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-3051\" src=\"https:\/\/www.scrapbook-adhesives.com\/images\/wordpress\/uploads\/2011\/12\/Dec3L2-300x225.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.scrapbook-adhesives.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/12\/Dec3L2-300x225.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.scrapbook-adhesives.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/12\/Dec3L2.jpg 500w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>See that wonderfully vintage looking metal center? It was just the touch I needed to finish off that flower and add some visual weight to the arrangement. \u00a0The center is a custom made accent using Epiphany Crafts products! \u00a0Let me give you some tips &#8211;<\/p>\n<p>First, I found an image that would work nicely with the center bubble cap &#8211;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.scrapbook-adhesives.com\/images\/wordpress\/uploads\/2011\/12\/IMG_0550.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-3055\" src=\"https:\/\/www.scrapbook-adhesives.com\/images\/wordpress\/uploads\/2011\/12\/IMG_0550-300x225.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.scrapbook-adhesives.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/12\/IMG_0550-300x225.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.scrapbook-adhesives.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/12\/IMG_0550.jpg 500w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Next, and here is the important part &#8211; before using the EC Shape Studio Tool , I applied an adhesive sheet to the back of the image. \u00a0This way, once it is punched out, the back will be sticky and I can easily apply it to the metal charm setting. \u00a0The adhesive sheets are so thin, they do not add any additional bulk to the paper &#8211; so they easily punch out with the tool. \ud83d\ude42<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.scrapbook-adhesives.com\/images\/wordpress\/uploads\/2011\/12\/IMG_0551.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-3056\" src=\"https:\/\/www.scrapbook-adhesives.com\/images\/wordpress\/uploads\/2011\/12\/IMG_0551-300x225.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.scrapbook-adhesives.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/12\/IMG_0551-300x225.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.scrapbook-adhesives.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/12\/IMG_0551.jpg 500w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The last step is to adhere the metal charm to the center of the poinsettia &#8211; for this, I used more 3D Foam Squares.
