Hello!\u00a0 It’s Judy<\/a> here today to share a recycled project that’s quick and easy…and so pretty!\u00a0 Who would’ve thought that a metal can could be repurposed into something so lovely as a Farmhouse Basket?<\/p>\n

\"Repurposed<\/p>\n

Preparing the Basket<\/h2>\n

I used various patterned papers that fit the farmhouse style to cover the can. First, measure its diameter which was 9.25 inches and add 0.25 inch for overlap so the total will be 9.50 inches. For its height, I measured between the top and bottom rims to get a measurement of 4-1\/8 inches.<\/p>\n

Cut patterned papers to the following measurements:
\nBlack Floral – 3\u00bc x 9\u00bd inch
\nStripe – \u00bd x\u00a09\u00bd inch
\nAqua Check – 1 x\u00a09\u00bd inch.<\/p>\n

Apply Premium Double-Sided Tape \u00bd inch<\/a> around can near the top and bottom edges and vertical piece.<\/p>\n

Covering the Can<\/h2>\n

From the top, apply Premium Double-Sided Tape \u00bd inch<\/a>\u00a0at one end of stripe paper. Remove liner from the tape around the top of the can. Fasten stripe paper over adhesive starting with the untaped end. After covering, remove the liner on the end and press into place.<\/p>\n

\"Repurposed<\/p>\n

For the body of the can, apply Premium Double-Sided Tape \u00bd inch<\/a>\u00a0around the can below stripe paper. Using the same tape, place a strip to one end of the black floral paper and remove the liners from the tape. Next, align paper edge alongside the bottom of the can. Wrap it around the can, starting with the end without tape. Remove the tape liner on the end and press in place.<\/p>\n

\"Repurposed<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

To finish covering the Farmhouse Basket, apply Premium Double-Sided Tape \u00bc inch<\/a> to all the back edges of the aqua check paper.\u00a0 Remove the liners and cover the metal exposed at the top of the black floral paper and fasten around can.\u00a0 Press edges firmly in place. Really turned out nicely with that farmhouse look.<\/p>\n

Finishing Touches on the Basket<\/h2>\n

To create a simple wire handle, measure out to the holes even on opposite sides, then mark them and punch the holes.<\/p>\n

\"Repurposed<\/p>\n

For an accent, I picked out a black and white gingham ribbon to place on the aqua check design. I placed a strip of Premium Double-Sided Tape \u215b inch<\/a> along the bottom edge of the aqua check paper. Then remove the liner to fasten ribbon around can. Add a small piece of the same tape on the ribbon end, overlap on the other ribbon and press into place and trim excess.<\/p>\n

\"Repurposed<\/p>\n

With a piece of 15-inch 19-gauge steel wire, bend about 1\u00bd-inches on each end. Thread the ends into the holes on each side of the can. Bend the end wire up further and wrap. Trim off excess.<\/p>\n

\"Repurposed<\/p>\n

Embellishing the Basket<\/h2>\n

Start by die-cutting the flower and leaves. Roll the flower and place 1 to 2 Adhesive Dots 3D<\/a> on flower base. Press to secure and shape flower to the desired look.<\/p>\n

\"Repurposed<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Now secure the leaves to the back of the flower with\u00a0Adhesive Dots Large<\/a>. Using the same adhesive dots, fasten the flower to the can. Tie ribbons to the wire handle near the top of the can on one side.<\/p>\n

For the tag, print “Happy May Day” with a label maker. Double mat the sentiment with white and peach cardstock. Place on a yellow floral paper die-cut into a tag shape. Secure all with\u00a0E-Z Runner\u00ae Micro Refillable Dispenser<\/a>. Punch a hole on the top, thread string, and tie to the handle where the ribbons are.<\/p>\n

\"Repurposed<\/p>\n

All that’s left is to fill the basket! Add a tissue paper liner and treats! Or fill with fresh flowers. It’s ready to give!<\/p>\n

You can mix and match different papers to make other Repurposed Farmhouse Baskets with or without a flower.<\/p>\n
