Hello crafty friends! I’m sharing a Mother’s Day Card today with a unique textured background. This technique makes a one-of-a-kind background! It’s made with Adhesives Sheets along with crumpled tissue paper, color sprays, gold embossing powder. <\/p>\n

The background was my starting point when making this card. It gave me inspiration for the colors in my flowers and layers.<\/p>\n

Steps to a Unique Background<\/h2>\n

Start with a scrap of cardstock for a card panel, some crumpled Kraft color tissue paper, and Adhesive Sheets 4×6 inch<\/a> sheet. <\/p>\n

Apply the Adhesive Sheets 4×6 inch<\/a> sheet to the card panel and remove its liner. Place the crumpled tissue on adhesive and press in place. Smooth to flatten wrinkles into the adhesive and at the same time, it will secure it. Trim to 4 x 5.5 inches.<\/p>\n

Lightly mist with a combination of Distress Sprays in Antique Linen, Mermaid Lagoon, and Wild Honey. Finish off with Hickory Smoke (not pictured in the step below). Dry completely with a heating tool.<\/p>\n

Once dried, rub Versamark ink very lightly over wrinkles and sprinkle with gold embossing powder. Tap off excess and melt with a heating tool. In the photo below, only half has been heat embossed.<\/p>\n

Lastly, ink the edges into Versamark ink and sprinkle with gold embossing powder. Then melt with a heating tool. <\/p>\n

Card Base & Layers Prep<\/h2>\n

Create a 5 x 7 inch tan card base and mist lightly with Distress Antique Linen spray. <\/p>\n

For the card panel, cut 4.5 x 6 inch from a tan cardstock. Mist with water, and then lightly spray with Distress Mermaid Lagoon. Mist again to spread color and dilute it. Dab off excess with a paper towel.<\/p>\n

Stamp the panel with a script stamp randomly. Ink edges with Versamark ink, sprinkle with gold embossing powder, remove excess and melt with a heating tool.<\/p>\n

Assembling the Card Layers<\/h2>\n

Apply E-Z Runner\u00ae Ultra Strong Refillable Dispenser<\/a> to the back corners of the background panel. This is a strong adhesive and will hold corners well, especially good for this background as it often curls. <\/p>\n

Use E-Z Dots\u00ae Permanent Refillable Dispenser<\/a> to apply to the edges between the corners and the center area. Secure over the script panel.<\/p>\n

Repeat the same adhesive application to the script panel with E-Z Runner\u00ae Ultra Strong Refillable Dispenser<\/a> and E-Z Dots\u00ae Permanent Refillable Dispenser<\/a>. <\/p>\n

Apply a line of E-Z Runner\u00ae Ultra Strong Refillable Dispenser<\/a> to the center of the panel and place the seam binding over it. Wrap its ends to the back and press in place into the adhesive. Adhere the entire piece on the card front.<\/p>\n

Flower Embellishments<\/h2>\n

Die-cutting two flowers and two leaf stems from heavy white cardstock or watercolor paper. Paint with watercolors. Allow to dry or heat dry with a heating tool. <\/p>\n

Die-cut a small tag shape from cream cardstock and stamp a phrase with black ink. Add a wash of watercolor around the edges.<\/p>\n

Place small Thin 3D Foam Squares White Mix<\/a> to the back of the flowers. Cut in half to fit some leaves. <\/p>\n

Stack two large Thin 3D Foam Squares White Mix<\/a> and place on to the back of the tag. <\/p>\n

Wrap a small piece of twine around seam binding and tie a knot. Add a drop of Dual Tip Glue Pen<\/a> to secure the knot. Trim twine ends.<\/p>\n

Tie a small bow of twine to the tag. Add a drop of Dual Tip Glue Pen<\/a> to the bow.<\/p>\n

Finally, apply Dual Tip Glue Pen<\/a> to the flower and leaf stems. Then remove the liners from the Thin 3D Foam Squares White Mix<\/a> and adhere to the card front. Tie the tag over the knot on seam binding. <\/p>\n
