Hello, cardmaking and crafty friends! Tracy<\/a> here, and today I have a fun little technique to share that I used on this Father’s Day card. Father’s Day is fast approaching and I often struggle to find ways to create masculine cards. This foiled alcohol ink background is completely customizable and perfect for such an occasion. Here are all of the details.<\/p>\n

Let’s Get Crafty<\/h2>\n

To start creating the foiled alcohol ink background you will need glossy photo paper and your chosen ink colors. Add drops of ink and smear them to create a blended background. Then add drops, these will move the background ink and create the pretty blobs.<\/p>\n

This next step of the foiled alcohol ink background takes some patience and perhaps some practice. You need to wait for the ink to dry mostly, just leaving portions of the “rings” of ink tacky to the touch. At this point is when you will add the foil. The foil will stick only to the tacky ink. <\/p>\n

Here you can see the areas where the foil has adhered. I end up cropping this 4×6 piece down to 3.75×5.<\/p>\n

Mat the cropped foiled alcohol ink background in navy cardstock and add to the white cardstock A2 base using the E-Z Runner\u00ae Ultra Strong Refillable Dispenser<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Stamp the Father’s Day sentiment onto black cardstock using an embossing pad and silver embossing powder. Then trim the sentiment piece down to 3.75″ in length and add to the bottom of the card front using Thin 3D Foam Squares Black Mix<\/a>. I also added a couple of coordinating gems for a little more dimension and shine.<\/p>\n
