Hi, Judy here today! I put together a Thanksgiving card that features a stunning metallic foil background created with Metallic Transfer Foil Sheets Nature Colors and 3D Foam Creative Sheets Small Black. The leaves pattern is made by passing 3D Foam Creative Sheet through an embossing folder. It may look difficult but it’s really not.
Card Layers
Cut black cardstock 8.5 x 6 inches, score and fold to make 4.25 x 6 inch side fold card. Also cut .625 x 2.75 inch strip and 3.625 x 4.875 inch rectangle.
From orange cardstock, cut 3.875 x 5.125 inch rectangle and .75 x 2.875 inch strip.
Emboss Background Panel
Cut 3D Foam Creative Sheets Small Black to 3.5 x 4.75 inches (simply cut .5 inch off one long side). Peel back liner at one end, position it centered at one end of black cardstock rectangle and continue to remove liner and press in place.
Place it in embossing folder so that cut sheet of 3D Foam Creative Sheets Small Black will be against side of folder with raised leaf veins so that veins will be pressed into the sheet. Use appropriate die cutting machine plate sandwich to safely pass embossing folder through die cutting machine.
Wear Your Adhesive on the Outside with Metallic Transfer Foil Sheet
Peel back liner from embossed design and lightly press orange/copper foil from Metallic Transfer Foil Sheets Nature Colors on leaf patterns. The object is to apply foil to raised parts of leaves but not in veins or recessed areas.
Continue with bronze foil on leaves and around all edges. Finally, use brown foil to fill in any other areas.
Define the Design with Black Embossing
Cover with black embossing powder and tap off the excess. Then rub your hand over entire foiled piece to remove any embossing powder that sticks to foil. Photo shows excess embossing powder rubbed off.
Gently heat emboss with heat tool. This will melt embossing powder and make foil crinkle. Before foil cools, lightly press bronze foil over it to add touches of shiny foil.
Stamp Greeting
Stamp greeting with Versamark ink on black cardstock strip. Cover with gold embossing powder, remove excess and heat emboss.
Assemble the Card
Mat the leaf panel to the orange mat using the E-Z Runner® Ultra Strong Refillable Dispenser and then attach the layered panel to the card front.
Repeat with the sentiment – mat the orange strip together with the E-Z Runner® Ultra Strong Refillable Dispenser and adhere it to the card front.
