Hi, Judy here! Today, I put together a very pretty Floral Shaker Birthday Card using Uniquely Creative papers and Creative Cuts flowers and leaves. The shaker was easy to make with a frame from 3D Foam Circle Frames White, Creative Cuts frame and acetate with pretty flowers perched on the frame.
Shaker Card Base
Fold in half a 7 x 10 inch white linen cardstock to form a 5 x 7 inch card base. Cut two 1 x 7 inch strips from stonewash cardstock. Cut a piece of 4 x 7 inch from mocha (pale pink side) cardstock and cut a piece of 3.625 x 7 inch panel from Foliage Whisper paper.
Apply E-Z Runner® Petite Permanent Dots Refillable Dispenser on the back of patterned paper and fasten to pink panel. Apply the adhesive on back along each 7 inch side and secure a blue strip to each side with narrow reveal. Add the panel to card front with E-Z Runner® Petite Permanent Dots Refillable Dispenser
Tag Panel
Use Uniquely Creative long tag die that’s 2.25 inches wide to cut tag from striped tag on Uniquely Creative Forgotten Treasures paper. Realign die on tag to cut off 1 inch from bottom of tag so that it’s 5.875-6 inches long.
Cut Stonewashed blue paper 2.375 wide and .25 inch longer that stripe tag. Fasten stripe tag to blue rectangle using E-Z Runner® Petite Permanent Dots Refillable Dispenser to apply adhesive to tag. Trim angle corners of blue paper to match angle of tag corners. Then apply adhesive to back and fasten on card.
Shaker Feature
From Uniquely Creative The Collectors Ledger patterned paper cut 2.5 inch circle with circle die and die cutting machine or by hand. Also cut same size circle from acetate. Peel liner from 4th circle frame on sheet of 3D Foam Circle Frames White and fasten patterned paper circle face down on 3D Foam Circle Frame. Press to fasten well and carefully peel away from sheet. Place liner over sticky side of 3D Foam Circle Frame and fill shaker with beads and sequins. Peel away liner and place acetate circle on top to seal shaker.
Take green frame from Uniquely Creative Creative Cuts and lightly press outer edges in Versamark ink pad. Then cover edges with gold embossing powder, remove excess and heat emboss with heat tool. Repeat as necessary to create gold edge around frame. Repeat process to inner edge of frame. (Designer Tip: Embossing marker can be used instead of ink pad)
Apply adhesive to back with E-Z Runner® Petite Permanent Dots Refillable Dispenser and fasten green frame over shaker. Cover back of shaker with adhesive using E-Z Runner® Petite Permanent Dots Refillable Dispenser and fasten shaker to card about 1 inch from top of tag.
Gold Emboss Flower Centers
Touch centers of flowers with embossing marker, cover with gold embossing powder, remove excess and emboss with heat tool. Also touch edges of wings and antennae of butterfly with embossing marker and emboss with gold embossing powder.
Fasten Flowers
Arrange flower pieces along edge of green frame. Use E-Z Dots® Repositionable Refillable Dispenser to temporarily hold pieces in place.
First fasten flowers closest to frame or under other flowers with 3D Foam Squares 3mm White Mix along outer edges which extend beyond frame and apply adhesive from E-Z Runner® Petite Permanent Dots Refillable Dispenser on parts that lay on frame. Use Thin 3D Foam Squares White Mix for top layer flowers. Add 3D Foam Squares White Mix to leaves and adhesive to stems with E-Z Runner® Petite Permanent Dots Refillable Dispenser and and tuck under flowers. Place small 3D Foam Squares White Mix on back of butterfly wings. Apply adhesive to body with E-Z Runner® Petite Permanent Dots Refillable Dispenser. Peel liners and fasten butterfly to top of shaker frame.
Greeting
Apply gold embossing to edges of “Happy Birthday” piece using same technique as used for shaker frame.
Cut pink rectangle .625 x 2.25 inches. Use E-Z Runner® Petite Permanent Dots Refillable Dispenser to apply adhesive to back of “Happy Birthday” greeting and fasten to pink rectangle. Cut ends to match curve of greeting. Place Thin 3D Foam Squares White Mix on back of greeting, peel liners and fasten to card.
Add Bow
Tie bow in silk ribbon and fasten at top of tag with Adhesive Dots Micro.
