Simple Birthday Pocket Card

Hi, Emily here today! I’m very excited to be sharing a Simple Happy Birthday Pocket Card with you all. This pocket is on the front of your card, so it’s the first thing the recipient sees!

Birthday Pocket Card Base

First, I started with two pieces of patterned paper: one a little more busy (for my pocket) and the other a little more tame (for my background). I cut these out with my A2 Liner Die, so they’d both be the same size.

Create the Pocket Feature

From there, I took the floral paper and trimmed the long side down to 4 inches, so it would become a 4 x 4 square. Next, I cut this diagonally, to make 2 triangles.

This will form our pocket! Now, time for the adhesive! It’s important to use strong adhesive when putting the pocket together, so I of course chose the Extreme Double-Sided Tape 1/4in. to put my pocket together. Put it on the bottom part of the back side of one of your triangles to adhere them together.

I like to make sure my pocket is the length of my card, it gives me enough space to slip some things inside my pocket! Once that was complete, I adhered my card panel to the front of my card using the E-Z Runner® Permanent Strips Refillable Dispenser.

Then, I grabbed the E-Z Runner® Micro Refillable Dispenser, and used that along the edges of my pockets to adhere it to the front of my card. The thinness of this tape allows you to be able to get the most room out of your pocket!

Embellishing the Birthday Pocket Card

For a fun decorative touch, I added a piece of ephemera, using the 3D Foam Squares White Mix on the bottom part of my pocket, leaving the top portion still open. How cute is that?!

Pocket cards are great for slipping something extra special into the card, like a gift card holder! Or even a little notecard with something special written on it. You decide! Let me know if you try out this fun way to make your own pocket!
