Hello blog readers! It’s Angela here today sharing a trio of projects I created for the Scrapbook Adhesives by 3L®’s booth at the recent Craft and Hobby Association (CHA) trade show.
The third item was a Mother’s Day card:
I have posted a tutorial on using tissue paper with sheet adhesive to create a textured background like on the card above previously. You can find that post HERE. But what was fun was discovering how you can modify the technique for use on 3D objects.
For example, the photo frame:
For this project, I painted a inexpensive frame white with acrylic paint and let dry. I applied an Adhesive Sheet 12×12″ to the front and edge of the frame and adhered strips of tissue paper in varying shades of purple. I used a brayer to securely attach the tissue paper. Then I applied a second Adhesive Sheet to the purple tissue paper and applied a white piece of tissue paper over the top to soften the ombre look. The seams between the strips of purple were hidden behind floral trim attached with Crafty Power Tape – 20′ in Dispenser and embellished with purple paper flowers adhered with DODZ Adhesive Dots Small.
For the keepsake box, I measured the box dimensions and cut strips to match from an Adhesive Sheet 12×12″ to cover the side of the paper mache box and lip of the lid. The Adhesive Sheet was used in the traditional way on the circular lid of the box. A medallion of stacked 3D Foam Hearts covered in glitter and silver micro beads embellish the top of the lid. Two decorative trims were layered and attached to the lip of the lid with Crafty Power Tape 20′ in Dispenser.
I love how the textured tissue paper adds some old world charm to these alterables. I hope my mom likes her Mother’s Day present!
