Foiled Bird Birthday Card

Hi everyone, Yvonne here with a Foiled Bird Birthday card. The E-Z Dots® Permanent Refillable Dispenser is a great tool for making gorgeous foiled accents on your project. This technique is known as Wear Your Adhesive on the Outside. It is bringing the adhesive out from the layers of cardstock up front to create custom embellishments!

Scrapbook Adhesives by 3L® has a wide variety of Metallic Transfer Foil colors to match any project and theme. I would love to show you how I made my card. Shall we get crafty?

Create Your Background

Start by trimming a piece of white cardstock to a rectangular size. This will be your top card panel. Then run the E-Z Dots® Permanent Refillable Dispenser over the cardstock and create three waving vertical lines.

Next, I take a piece of the bronze foil in the Metallic Transfer Foil Sheets Nature Colors and dab the foil onto the adhesive dot lines. Make sure that the foil color is facing UP. Rub the foil to transfer the color to the adhesive and gently peel off the foil. Reapply the foil in missed spots. Now you have done the Wear Your Adhesive on the Outside technique!

Layer Another Texture

For more interest, take a stencil and crackle texture paste. Put the stencil on the top card panel and hold the stencil in place. With a spatula, gently apply the texture paste over the stencil to get the desired look and remove the stencil to reveal your design. Dry thoroughly or use a heating tool to dry.

Embellish the Card Panel

Die-cut a branch shape from kraft cardstock and adhere it horizontally onto the card panel using the Dual Tip Glue Pen.

Fussy-cut the birds, leaves, and berries from a piece of patterned paper. Adhere all the elements onto the card panel with the Thin 3D Foam Squares White Mix.

Place a stentiment sticker on a pink strip of cardstock and adhere on the card panel using Thin 3D Foam Squares White Mix.

Make the Card Base

Let’s layer the card panel onto a slightly larger pink panel with the E-Z Runner® Grand Refillable Dispenser. Then adhere it to a white card base again using the E-Z Runner® Grand Refillable Dispenser. Voilá, your Foiled Bird Birthday Card is ready!

I hope you enjoyed this tutorial and wish you happy crafting!
