Documenting social media posts and my son’s trip to Japan inspired my Solo Trip Scrapbook Layout today. Hi, Margie here, and I’d like to share some out-of-the-box ideas with you. Maybe you can use them in your next layout.

Create the Solo Trip Layout Base
Fussy cut out the inside of the airplane window with detailed scissors. Place the 8 x 10 in. photo collage of my son’s social media posts behind the opening and secure it with the Crafty Power Tape Polybag 81ft.

Using the same Crafty Power Tape Polybag 81ft., I matted a small photo with patterned paper, and later, a piece of 12 x 12 in. patterned paper to finish.

Creative Photo Corner Accents
I cut a row of Creative Photo Corners Silver to create a unique accent and applied a strip of Extreme Double-Sided Tape 1/4in. on the front. Peel off the top liner and place it facing down to the back of the layout panel. I centered a photo on the front side of the paper with the E-Z Runner® Grand Permanent Strips Refillable Dispenser. On the lower right corner, I added some to the back of the photo mat before adhering it to the page.

Embellish a Sticker Square
Split two sticker squares to make one square. Designer’s Note: I used a 3D foam leftover liner to help with placement. I added a strip of Extreme Double-Sided Tape 1/4in. and foiled with a piece of platinum foil from the Metallic Transfer Foil Sheets Nature Colors to cover the edges. Remove the top liner, place the foil on top (color side facing you), and gently rub to transfer the color. Peel off to reveal the shine!

Creative Photo Corner Border
I layered the foiled border by linking cut Creative Photo Corners Silver for texture. Simply cut off the black liner and tuck the corners into each other to form a line. Continue until you get the length of the sticker square. Since it has adhesive on the back just place it on top of the foiled border. Also, I added a row in the upper right corner where I’ll add a title later.

Wear Your Adhesive on the Outside with Metallic Transfer Foil Sheets and Stamps
Cut a piece of 3D Foam Creative Sheets Small White just enough for your stamp images. With a piece of platinum foil from the Metallic Transfer Foil Sheets Nature Colors. Remove a top liner, place the foil on top (color side facing you), and gently rub the foil to transfer the color. Peel off the foil to reveal a shiny accent! Reapply foil in missed areas.

I thought I would try and stamp on foil…and it worked out! Use ink like Staz-On to keep the image on the slick surface. To get a good image, I stamped twice (my ink pad might be a little dry). Give it a few moments to dry before die-cutting.
In case you were wondering, I did a heat embossing on a scrap piece. The foam doesn’t lose its shape, but the foil gives a matte or soft textured background and dries the ink. Hope you can see from the image below…it’s hard to photograph.

Assemble the Solo Trip Layout
After die-cutting the compass, remove the liner to place it on the sticker square cluster. Next, place the square in the upper left corner of the layout. Next, stamp and die-cut the geo marker like the compass. Add it to the location in the lower right corner photo

Die-cut the word, “SOLO”, with patterned paper and pop them up with the 3D Foam Strips in White on the upper right corner of the layout. Die-cut the word “TRIP” with patterned paper and adhere it with the E-Z Dots® Repositionable Refillable Dispenser. When you roll the adhesive over the letter, it hits only the back of the letters. If the word is crooked, you can always peel it off, straighten it out and it stays on! I’ve done this three times – lol! Love this adhesive…you have the right to change your mind….er, design! HAHAHAHA!!

What a fun event to document for my son…his first business trip and a week with my family all in Japan! I hope my Solo Trip Layout inspires you to document a trip – business or pleasure!
Thanks for stopping by!
