Woven Heart Card

Hi, Jingle here today and I am so excited to share this fun technique with you using felt to create a beautiful Woven Heart element on your card design!

We are going to create the heart element on this card from felt. First, we need to die cut strips of felt and then thread the first green strip through the grey strips to get us started. You will want to secure that initial strip with Extreme Double-Sided Tape 1/8in so it doesn’t fall apart while you are working. I used a strip on both the front and back. Don’t worry about visibility, as this will be cut off later.

Once you have woven the full block (ensure it is large enough for the shape you intend to cut from it), you will secure the entire thing by backing it with Adhesive Sheets 4 x 6in. This will ensure that when you die cut the heart, your weaving will stay perfectly in place.

Next, you will die cut the heart from the woven felt. I used the Spellbinders Platinum Six with the following sandwich: Platform with Platform Top, shim, Cutting plate, adhesive sheet with felt attached, die, release backing from the adhesive sheet (this protects your top plate from getting very sticky adhesive on it), Cutting Plate. I then ran it through the die cut machine and it successfully cut through the felt and the adhesive sheet the first time! YAY!

Now we can assemble the card. Trim a 4x 5 1/4 panel of white cardstock along with a sheet of woven paper the same size. Die cut a white circle from a striped embossed cardstock. Use the E-Z Runner® Permanent Fine Adhesive Dispenser (aka Vellum Runner) to adhere the woven paper to the white panel and then use the same to adhere the circle to the panel, as well. Finally, remove the release paper from the back or the woven heart and adhere.

Now that this is assembled, die cut your sentiment from black and white cardstock. Use the Dual Tip Glue Pen to adhere that to the felt heart.

Next, adhere the panel to a black panel, an finally, to the card base using the E-Z Runner® Grand Permanent Dots Refillable Dispenser.
