Hey everybody, happy weekend! Are you a fan of mixed media? Well, I love it but don’t play as often as I would like and need to change that. Leslie here, sharing a Dream Big Mixed Media Tag featuring pretty papers, die cuts/ephemera and dies from Uniquely Creative. Of course, I also used some amazing adhesives (and other products) from Scrapbook Adhesives! Let me show you this tag in a little more detail!
Mixed Media Tag Details
Using a Uniquely Creative Slim Stitched Nesting Tag Die, I cut the tag base from Kraft cardstock. Then the fun began. First I layered patterned paper, cardstock, die cuts and other pieces of ephemera from the Uniquely Creative Delighted Curiosities collection. The E-Z Runner® Grand Permanent Strips Refillable Dispenser and Dual Tip Glue Pen worked well for the base layers.
Next, I inked the edges of some of the pieces with Ranger Hickory Smoke distress ink on a dauber. Popping up elements with Thin 3D Foam Squares White Mix and 3D Foam Squares White Mix is always a fun touch. These are 1mm and 2mm thick respectively and give different heights of dimension.
Additionally, I used a sewing-themed stamp to add random cross-stitches and double-stitches in green ink using an acrylic block.
Wear Your Adhesive on the Outside Technique
Oh, how I love the Wear Your Adhesive on the Outside technique! Surprisingly (NOT), I used it three times on this tag – first with a strip of foiled squares down the left side. Created this with E-Z Squares® Refillable Dispenser and foil from the Metallic Transfer Foil Sheets Nature Colors. Simply apply the squares, place crumpled bronze foil (shiny side up) on the squares and rub with your finger. Repeat the process with crumpled brown foil to grab any bare areas which will yield a two-tone look.
The second instance was the application of green flock onto several 3D Foam Squares Micro White. These were then placed in diamond orientation in random spots on the tag.
Finally, the third instance was blue embossing powder applied to 3D Foam Strips and heated with my heat tool. Afterwards, I cut the strip in small-sized pieces and placed them on the right edge toward the bottom. This completed the Dream Big mixed media tag.
