Mosaic Card Using 3D Foam Squares

Welcome back, crafty friends! Today I have a fabulously easy Mosaic technique to share using 3D Foam Squares. Have you ever looked at your adhesives and just thought “they would make a beautiful background all on their own”? Well, that’s exactly what I thought when I looked at my stack of 3D Foam Square and Thin 3D Foam Square sheets at the edge of my craft table. Here are all of the details on how to create this fun Mosaic Card Using 3D Foam Squares.

Mosaic Card Using 3D Foam Squares by Tracy McLennon for Scrapbook Adhesives by 3L

Creating the Mosaic Design

Start with a piece of white cardstock cut to size for my layered card (3.5 x 4.75″). Then I began adhering both the Thin 3D Foam Squares in 1/4″ and 1/2″, as well as the 3D Foam Squares in 1/4″ and 1/2″. Just continue building the design in a somewhat random fashion. Attach the squares right next to each other, mixing and matching the 3D foam thicknesses. I didn’t cover the entire piece of white cardstock, but just a nice thick border.

Once the thick border is complete. I then cut a piece of patterned paper to 4×5.23 and adhered it to my white cardstock card base using my E-Z Runner® Permanent Fine Adhesive Dispenser. I adhered the piece of white cardstock with the mosaic border using Crafty Foam Tape to the card.

Next, add the card sentiment using a double layer of 3D Foam Squares to ensure it’s lifted above the Mosaic border. Then I added the fussy cut butterfly with Mini Adhesive Dots and gems.

This simple border just creates so much dimension in such a subtle way.

Score each of the banners  1/4″ from the top and add a strip of the Premium Double-Sided Tape 1/4in to the scored area.

Next, I folded the banner over the leg of a jumbo paper clip, using the Premium Double-Sided tape to secure it in place.

On to the embellishing and the fun part! Take the 3D Foam Squares and attached them to the backs of the smaller labels. Center the labels onto the banner and they’re now ready for decorating!

Grab packages of 3D Foam Butterflies, 3D Foam Hearts and the stars from the 3D Foam Holiday Embellishment Kit or 3D Foam Stars. After adding those to the banners, I sprinkled on some silver micro beads for great texture.

3D Foam Hearts = Perfect Final Touch

Have you ever started a scrapbook layout and felt like it was okay but not quite there yet?  Christine joining you today and I am going to walk you thru a layout that shows how I overcame “okay” and went straight to fabulous with one final addition.  That final addition was 3D Foam Hearts.

This layout has a very classic feel to it – with many classic elements.  To keep it from being too rigid and straight, I opted to tilt my picture and add a script title.  I also offset my journaling.  All these things help it to be just a little bit more artistic.

I cut apart my journaling pieces and used Adhesive Lines to secure them as they were just a little short to use my E-Z Runner Grand.  I also added 3D Foam Circles to some of my rose stickers so that they would have a little extra pop to them.

How to use 3D Foam Hearts for the Perfect Final Touch

The Black Creative Photo Corners complemented the classic style of the layout well.  But the real winner on the adhesive front was the 3D Foam Hearts.  By adding some glitter to them and using a number of them – they really stole the show.  They presented the perfect embellishment that I was able to personalize.  As I was using them I was blown away at what a perfect fit they were.  Let’s check out my process video to see how I used them as well as all the other adhesives in this layout:

So the next time you are stuck for a final step, or maybe lacking in just the right coordinating embellishment, pull out those 3D Foam Shapes! They really can transform a layout!

Mother’s Day and Homemade Glitter Glue

Mothers are the inventors of ingenuity and creativity when it comes to pulling a rabbit out of a hat.   Whether it’s molding cardboard for that last minute science project at school, or turning ten dollars worth of groceries into a fancy meal for four!.  This card pays homage to our wonderful, creative mothers who are masters of everything!  Hello, Terri here, sharing foiling tips plus, a short video with a homemade glitter glue recipe.

Mother's Day Card by Terri Burson for Scrapbook Adhesives by 3L

Recipe for Homemade Glitter Glue

The mixture I’m using is approximately 1/8 tsp of fine or extra fine glitter.  Mix with approximately 1/4 tsp of clear glue from the Dual Tip Glue Pen.   Apply using the small tip of a paintbrush handle, not the brush itself.  The mix was enough to glitter all my leaves and some of the blossom centers.  Adjust the recipe to suit your own needs.

Look For Details To Embellish

The 3D Foam Creative Embellishment Kit and gold foil are the perfect accent for my sentiment.  Look for tiny details to embellish your die cuts and paper.   I’ve added little pops of gold foil to my blossom centers with Adhesive Dots Micro, along with tiny dots of handmade glitter glue.   The hand colored leaves are also peppered with dotted glitter glue so you can Wear Your Adhesive On The Outside!

Wrap it Up

Adhere your papers with the E-Z Runner® Grand Refillable Dispenser.   I love the ultra stickiness of the E-Z Runner® Grand Ultra Strong Refill cartridge.  The finishing touch is to pop up those blooms with the new 3D Foam Circles White Mix.   Layers and dimension add so much to any card.

CAS Cards with a Smile and 3D Foam Creative Sheets

How can you not smile when you receive these cards?! With 3D Foam Creative Sheets it’s ever so easy to lift up and securely adhere the “Smile” sentiment on these CAS (Clean And Simple) cards. Hi everyone, Yvonne here today sharing two different ways to create cards.

CAS Cards with a Smile and 3D Creative Sheets by Yvonne van de Grijp for Scrapbook Adhesives by 3L

Smile Eclipse Card Making

What is an eclipse card? It is a card that gives subtle dimension to a card front such as the sentiment rising from the background.

Let’s paint stripes with a paint dabber in different colors on to a rectangle piece of cardstock. Set aside to dry.

Die-cut the sentiment from the painted cardstock. Make sure you position the metal cutting die exactly where you want it. Maybe use washi tape to secure.

Mount the painted card panel onto a piece of pink cardstock using the E-Z Runner® Grand Refillable Dispenser. For narrow areas, I used Dual Tip Glue Pen to adhere. With the E-Z Runner Grand, I placed the layered panel on top of a white card base.

Now the secret of making an eclipse card is the 3D Foam Creative Sheets! Die-cut the sentiment from 3D Foam Creative Sheet. You can use either side of the sheet to cut from.

Lay out the letters and peel off the top liner of each. Carefully place the painted die-cut letters on top of the 3D Foam Letters.

Remove the bottom liner from each letter and place on top of the card front, matching each letter. Using a pair of tweezers will help.

Finish the card by applying dimensional resin to each letter. Adhere sequins to the card with Adhesive Dots Micro. Voila…You made an eclipse card!

Glittered Smile Card Making

Repeating similar steps, I will lift and apply glitter on my card to WEAR YOUR ADHESIVE ON THE OUTSIDE!

Paint stripes with paint dabbers and let dry.

Die-cut the sentiment from the painted cardstock. Then mount onto a piece of blue cardstock using the E-Z Runner® Grand Refillable Dispenser and the Dual Tip Glue Pen for the narrow areas. Finally adhere the layered card panel on to a white card base.

Die-cut the sentiment from a 3D Foam Creative Sheet. You can use either side of the sheet to die-cut from. Lay out the letters and peel off the bottom liner.

Carefully match the letter die cuts into the card front. Remove the top liner from the 3D letter die cuts and sprinkle glitter over the exposed adhesive. Carefully push the glitter into the adhesive with your fingers to secure. Tap off excess to reveal a sparkly sentiment!

Finish by placing sequins to the card front with Adhesive Dots Micro and done!

Embossed Watercolor Mother’s Day Card

Hi friends! Dana Tatar here today sharing a floral watercolor card tutorial. Fresh flowers come to mind when I think about my Mom. I have fond memories of special events with fragrant bouquets. A hand-cut vase of fresh flowers brought in from the garden made an ordinary Spring day feel special. The perfect Mother’s Day card for my Mom naturally includes flowers.

Bright Floral Embossed Watercolor Mother's Day Card with Felt Flowers and Stamped Sentiment

This beautiful watercolor effect is easy to create using an embossing folder and Gelatos. Absolutely no prior watercolor experience is necessary to create these stunning background prints.

How to Create Embossed Watercolor Backgrounds

How to Apply Colorful Gelatos to a Floral Print Embossing Folder to Create an Embossed Watercolor Card

Step 1.
First, gather several colors of Gelatos, a piece of white cardstock cut to size, a mister filled with water, and an embossing folder. I chose a colorful palette and used Snow Cone, Lavender, Metallic Mint, Margarita Mix, Lime, Banana, Watermelon, Acqua Dolce, Blood Orange, and Raspberry Gelatos. Next, lightly mist the back inside of the embossing folder with water. Then, apply Gelatos to the raised pattern on the folder.

Step 2.
Carefully place the white cardstock on top of the colored side of the embossing folder. Fold the top half of the folder down and emboss. Set aside to dry.

Step 3.
Use a rectangle frame die to cut a section from the center of the watercolor cardstock. Attach the outer rectangle die-cut to a colored card base using E-Z Runner® Ultra Strong Permanent Adhesive. Use the same rectangle frame die to cut a piece of colored cardstock that matches the card base. Place the inner watercolor rectangle die-cut into the colored cardstock frame. Attach to the center of the card base using Crafty Foam Tape to add dimension.

Step 4.
Embellish the card. Stamp a sentiment onto a small tag and use E-Z Runner® Strong Permanent Adhesive to attach it to the front of the card. Next, add felt flowers. The new 3D Foam Circles fit perfectly in the center of the flower petals for great coverage.

Lion Dance Shaker Card

Hello! Valerie here today, and I have a fun, colorful shaker card for you using the Dual Tip Glue Pen and E-Z Dots® Permanent Refillable Dispenser!

Lion Dance Shaker Card by Valerie Ward for Scrapbook Adhesives by 3L

Creating the Shaker

First, die-cut the grid window die with watercolor patterned paper. This will be your card front. Next, trim a piece of a clear transparent sheet to the same size as your card front.

Using the Dual Glue Tip Pen, adhere the clear transparent sheet to the back of the card front. The fine tip of the glue pen makes this very easy to accomplish!

Take a scrap piece of foam sheet and die-cut it with the grid window die. Adhere it to the back of the card panel (match it up to create one dimensional piece) using the Dual Glue Tip Pen.

When the glue dries, take a powder tool and rub onto the edges where any glue might have seeped out. This ensures that it won’t be sticky.

Fill the squares with fun and colorful sequins. Then apply the Dual Tip Glue Pen over the foam grid.

I have a card base created out of more watercolor patterned paper. This is the background to the shaker. Place the card base front over the shaker feature and set aside to dry.

For the embellishing the card front, I stamped and die-cut adorable images with white cardstock and colored them. To secure them on my card front, I used the E-Z Dots Permanent Refillable Dispenser.

This is a such a fun card that I hate to give it away! LOL! But I’m sure the recipient will enjoy it too!

Delicate Die Cut Card using Adhesive Sheets

Hi everyone, Christine here today with a Spring blossom card and to show you how to affix those delicate die cuts using Adhesive Sheet 4 x 6″. It’s so easy!

Delicate Die Cut Card using Adhesive Sheets by Christine Emberson for Scrapbook Adhesives by 3L

Let’s get started…

My card base has a patterned paper mat and panels affixed in place with the E-Z Runner Grand® Refillable Dispenser.

Using Adhesive Sheets…

To adhere those delicate die cuts we all love but find tricky, use Adhesive Sheets.  They come in a variety of sizes (12″ x 12″, 6″ x 12″ and 4″ x 6″)  perfect for all projects.  Take off the top liner sheet of a 4″ x 6″Adhesive Sheet and apply cardstock on to it. Die-cut through your machine with your etched die.  When you remove the sheet your die cut has an edge to edge layer of adhesive, not stringy!

The Adhesive Sheet also provides a more speedy way to affix the die cut onto my card front, no messy liquid glue involved!  Using scissors, I’ve sliced the die cut in half to stretch the design on my card.

For the card center decoration, I printed a blossom photo onto canvas card and die cut a frame.  This is all secured with 3D Foam Squares White Regular.

With the addition of a small sentiment and a cluster of flowers, leaves and ribbon, again all secured with 3D Foam Squares White Regular my Spring blossom card is finished.

Thanks for stopping by today.  Make your next die cutting project with Adhesive Sheets, it’s a breeze! Christine

Creating a Striped Background with Adhesive Sheets

Are you always on the lookout for new trends in paper crafting? My eyes are always open and I’ve noticed a new technique trending in the scrapbooking world! I have seen people creating a messy striped background on layouts using various Mixed Media. Intrigued by the idea, I decided to put my own spin on that by combining Adhesive Sheets and Foil.  Let’s take a look at how it turned out!

Creating a striped background using Adhesive Sheets from Scrapbook Adhesives by 3L

Instead of creating my entire background from the Adhesives Sheets and Foil – I opted to alternate them with patterned paper stripes. This occurred in part because the patterned paper I was working with was striped and already had me thinking in that direction. I cut out half-inch strips of the Adhesive Sheets keeping the height of the stripes uniform. As you can see the length varies with placement. This Process Video will walk you thru just how I made them:

Striped Background with Foil & Adhesives Sheets Process Video

As you can see in the video, the foil is quite easy to add.  It also creates a nice messy look which in my opinion makes things easier. I generally have a pretty clean style BUT anytime you are working with mixed media (or a mixed media look) you have to let that go!

You don’t have to stop at foil for this application. This approach really allows you to Wear Your Adhesive on the Outside therefore you could try it with glitter, flocking, embossing powder, the possibilities are endless! And notice – no machine needed to apply the foil!

When I created my first stripe, I actually thought I’d go back and clean it up to be more precise. But as I went on I realized I actually was really liking the messier look therefore I decided to leave things just as they were.

In addition to the Adhesive Sheets, I also gave the new 3D Foam Circles a workout – using them to secure and give dimension to my heart embellishments. This is one shape that is so much easier to apply with 3D Foam Circles on hand because it fits the shape so nicely!

Are you ready to make some stripes? Be sure to share them with us if you do!
