SMILE Foiled Paper Pieced Card Tutorial

Hi friends! Dana Tatar here today sharing a Spring Smile greeting card. I had a lot of fun paper piecing and foiling die-cuts. The dynamic background I created for the focal point of my card is easy to create. I used Adhesive Sheets to make die-cuts into stickers. To piece the background together I simply had to cut, peel, and stick. I added extra flair to this card with some holographic foiled accents. I also added more dimension with 3D Foam Squares.

SMILE Foiled Paper Pieced Card by Dana Tatar for Scrapbook Adhesives by 3L
Creating a Chevron Background

To begin, I removed the yellow liner paper from a 12×12 Adhesive Sheet. Then I placed pieces of patterned paper onto the exposed adhesive and pressed to adhere the adhesive to the back of the paper. Next, I used a zig-zag die to cut the patterned paper. I removed the backing liner and stuck the die-cuts down onto a piece of white cardstock. To learn how I cut the zig-zag die-cuts into a colorful chevron background, please visit my blog.

Applying Foiled Accents

To add the foiled accents to the card, I applied adhesive to white cardstock using the same process as above. Rather than peel off the backing paper and apply the die-cut to white cardstock, I used the E-Z Runner® Micro Refillable Dispenser to add adhesive to the back of the paper. This left the edge-to-edge adhesive on the top of the die-cut. To add foil to the paper, I peeled off the backing sheet and pressed the Metallic Transfer Foil -Holographic  onto the adhesive, colored foil side up. Then, I rubbed the transfer sheet with my finger and peeled it away to reveal the foiled element.

Pastel and Silver Holographic Foil Die-Cut Paper Pieced Chevron Background on a Handmade Card
Building Dimensional SMILE Letters

I cut and stacked die-cut letters to add a dimensional sentiment to the front of the card. I used the SMILE to cut three pieces of white cardstock. The tall, narrow font was the perfect size to fit inside the frame embellishment I selected. Once the individual letters were cut, I used the HomeHobby by 3L™ Dual Tip Glue Pen to glue the three copies of each letter together. Finally, I used the E-Z Runner® Micro Refillable Dispenser to attach the letters to the front of the card. This runner is a favorite of mine for use on narrow embellishments. The dispenser is full of 1/8″ wide permanent strips that are centered on the liner for easy application.

Repurposed Farmhouse Basket Tutorial

Hello!  It’s Judy here today to share a recycled project that’s quick and easy…and so pretty!  Who would’ve thought that a metal can could be repurposed into something so lovely as a Farmhouse Basket?

Repurposed Farmhouse Basket by Judy Hayes for Scrapbook Adhesives by 3L

Preparing the Basket

I used various patterned papers that fit the farmhouse style to cover the can. First, measure its diameter which was 9.25 inches and add 0.25 inch for overlap so the total will be 9.50 inches. For its height, I measured between the top and bottom rims to get a measurement of 4-1/8 inches.

Cut patterned papers to the following measurements:
Black Floral – 3¼ x 9½ inch
Stripe – ½ x 9½ inch
Aqua Check – 1 x 9½ inch.

Apply Premium Double-Sided Tape ½ inch around can near the top and bottom edges and vertical piece.

Repurposed Farmhouse Basket by Judy Hayes for Scrapbook Adhesives by 3L

Covering the Can

From the top, apply Premium Double-Sided Tape ½ inch at one end of stripe paper. Remove liner from the tape around the top of the can. Fasten stripe paper over adhesive starting with the untaped end. After covering, remove the liner on the end and press into place.

Repurposed Farmhouse Basket by Judy Hayes for Scrapbook Adhesives by 3L

For the body of the can, apply Premium Double-Sided Tape ½ inch around the can below stripe paper. Using the same tape, place a strip to one end of the black floral paper and remove the liners from the tape. Next, align paper edge alongside the bottom of the can. Wrap it around the can, starting with the end without tape. Remove the tape liner on the end and press in place.

Repurposed Farmhouse Basket by Judy Hayes for Scrapbook Adhesives by 3L

To finish covering the Farmhouse Basket, apply Premium Double-Sided Tape ¼ inch to all the back edges of the aqua check paper.  Remove the liners and cover the metal exposed at the top of the black floral paper and fasten around can.  Press edges firmly in place. Really turned out nicely with that farmhouse look.

Finishing Touches on the Basket

To create a simple wire handle, measure out to the holes even on opposite sides, then mark them and punch the holes.

Repurposed Farmhouse Basket by Judy Hayes for Scrapbook Adhesives by 3L

For an accent, I picked out a black and white gingham ribbon to place on the aqua check design. I placed a strip of Premium Double-Sided Tape ⅛ inch along the bottom edge of the aqua check paper. Then remove the liner to fasten ribbon around can. Add a small piece of the same tape on the ribbon end, overlap on the other ribbon and press into place and trim excess.

Repurposed Farmhouse Basket by Judy Hayes for Scrapbook Adhesives by 3L

With a piece of 15-inch 19-gauge steel wire, bend about 1½-inches on each end. Thread the ends into the holes on each side of the can. Bend the end wire up further and wrap. Trim off excess.

Repurposed Farmhouse Basket by Judy Hayes for Scrapbook Adhesives by 3L

Embellishing the Basket

Start by die-cutting the flower and leaves. Roll the flower and place 1 to 2 Adhesive Dots 3D on flower base. Press to secure and shape flower to the desired look.

Repurposed Farmhouse Basket by Judy Hayes for Scrapbook Adhesives by 3L

Now secure the leaves to the back of the flower with Adhesive Dots Large. Using the same adhesive dots, fasten the flower to the can. Tie ribbons to the wire handle near the top of the can on one side.

For the tag, print “Happy May Day” with a label maker. Double mat the sentiment with white and peach cardstock. Place on a yellow floral paper die-cut into a tag shape. Secure all with E-Z Runner® Micro Refillable Dispenser. Punch a hole on the top, thread string, and tie to the handle where the ribbons are.

Repurposed Farmhouse Basket by Judy Hayes for Scrapbook Adhesives by 3L

All that’s left is to fill the basket! Add a tissue paper liner and treats! Or fill with fresh flowers. It’s ready to give!

You can mix and match different papers to make other Repurposed Farmhouse Baskets with or without a flower.

Thanks so much for visiting and Happy Crafting!

Springtime Memory Dex Mini Album

Hi there!  Shellye McDaniel dropping by today with one of my favorite monthly projects, the Springtime Memory Dex Mini Album. I like to think of it as a daily journal to keep me inspired.

Springtime Memory Dex Mini Album by Shellye McDaniel for Scrapbook Adhesives by 3L

Memory Dex Mini Album Basics

To get started on this springtime art journal, I die-cut thirty-one various shaped cards from heavy-weight cardstock. I alternated the shapes and patterns to make the system more eye-catching.

Next, I selected matching elements such as stickers, die-cuts, and cut-outs to add to each page.

Adhering the Elements

I always reach for products from Scrapbook Adhesives when crafting something that will get a lot of wear-and-tear. These are the adhesive products  I used on the different materials and elements:

Adhering Intricate Words to Projects

For the longest time, intricate words and pieces were the bane of my crafty existence. It was a mess to add adhesive to them and I never quite covered them right. Once I discovered Adhesive Sheets, that all changed. Adhering intricate words and other intricate pieces went from being a frustration to an easy go-to technique of turning them into a sticker! It’s Christine joining you today with a scrapbook layout featuring, you guessed it, an intricate word!

Adhering Intricate Words using Adhesive Sheets by Christine Meyer for Scrapbook Adhesives by 3L

Adhering Intricate Words

Our Adhesive Sheets are available in three different sizes, 4 x 6 inches, 6 x 12 inches, and 12 x 12 inches, which mean that no matter how big your word is or what type of machine (manual die cut, electronic die cut, scissors, punches) you are using, you can make them work for you!

Adhering Intricate Words using Adhesive Sheets by Christine Meyer for Scrapbook Adhesives by 3L

For this title, I used the 6 x 12 inch sheet because my metal die was just a little too big for the 4 x 6.  I simply trimmed my patterned paper into a rectangle, removed the yellow liner, and then set it on the Adhesive Sheet. Then I ran it thru my cutting machine. Turning it into a sticker with the Adhesive Sheets makes adhering intricate words a piece of cake!

Other Adhesives on this Layout

To add some dimension to my layout I popped up my pictures using Crafty Foam Tape. I also used a 3D Foam Square to pop up the circle in my embellishment cluster above the pictures.

Hello Card with Ink Resist Technique

Do you like to get inky when you make cards and scrapbook pages? Teri here to show you a card using a fun ink resist technique!

Hello Card with Ink Resist Technique by Teri Anderson for Scrapbook Adhesives by 3L

This ink masking technique is easy to pull off with the E-Z Dots ® Repositionable Refillable Dispenser! Let’s get started.

Trying Out the Ink Resist Technique

Start by stamping an image with black ink onto a panel of white cardstock.

Hello Card with Ink Resist Technique by Teri Anderson for Scrapbook Adhesives by 3L

Use the E-Z Dots ® Repositionable Refillable Dispenser to roll several lines of adhesive dots over your stamped image. You can add as many lines as your heart desires.

Set your panel on a piece of scratch paper. Take one ink color and slowly apply it onto the panel with a sponge. Be gentle and not apply too much pressure as you ink.

Hello Card with Ink Resist Technique by Teri Anderson for Scrapbook Adhesives by 3L

Now, you are going to add two more colors of ink to the panel.

Hello Card with Ink Resist Technique by Teri Anderson for Scrapbook Adhesives by 3L

Hello Card with Ink Resist Technique by Teri Anderson for Scrapbook Adhesives by 3L

Continuing adding ink until your image is completely covered. Once are happy with the inking, and the ink is dry, you can use your fingers to rub off the adhesive. Go gently in a circular motion and the dots come right up!

Hello Card with Ink Resist Technique by Teri Anderson for Scrapbook Adhesives by 3L

I recommend rubbing the panel with a sponge once you’ve removed the adhesive, just in case you’ve missed any flecks. By the way, the sponge I used is a cosmetic sponge I found at the dollar store!

Create the Card

Now, you are going to use the panel on a card. Cut it into a circle.

Hello Card with Ink Resist Technique by Teri Anderson for Scrapbook Adhesives by 3L

Create a card from a piece of cardstock. Sponge some ink onto it and then adhere the circle to the card with Thin 3D Foam Squares. I like to use the squares because they give elements on cards ‘pop’ but not too much. That way my cards aren’t too bulky and cost-prohibitive to mail.

Hello Card with Ink Resist Technique by Teri Anderson for Scrapbook Adhesives by 3L

Stamp a sentiment on a strip of cardstock. Adhere it below the circle.

Finish the card with a few sequins or gems! The micro-sized Adhesive Dots work great for small embellishments.

Hello Card with Ink Resist Technique by Teri Anderson for Scrapbook Adhesives by 3L

The thing I really love about this technique is you can create a lot of cards by using the same design. I also love that you can make each of your cards unique by using different ink colors.

The possibilities really are endless!

Friends Scrapbook Page in Monochrome

Welcome back, scrappy friends! Tracy here, and today I have a layout honoring my close friends in a simple yet striking monochromatic color scheme to share.

Sometimes you just don’t need a bunch of patterns and embellishments to create a beautiful scrapbook layout. Here are all of the details on how I created this layout using all white products.

Friends Scrapbook Page in Monochromatic Design by Tracy McLennon for Scrapbook Adhesives by 3L

Monochromatic Background

The layered background is a piece of 12×12-inch grey cardstock and a piece of white cardstock cut to 11 x 11-inches. Adhere these pieces together using the E-Z Runner® Permanent Strips Refillable Dispenser. Add the white cardstock die cut using Adhesive Dots Micro.

Cut strips of white cardstock that are 0.5″ wide, and a length of between 9-11″. Adhere these strips all across the layout using Crafty Foam Tape White, spacing them about a half inch apart.

Friends Scrapbook Page in Monochromatic Design by Tracy McLennon for Scrapbook Adhesives by 3L

The Small Details

Mat the photo in white and grey cardstock. Add Creative Photo Corners White to the corners of the photo. Adhere these layers together using E-Z Runner® Permanent Strips Refillable Dispenser, then add another white cardstock mat, but adhere to the others using Crafty Foam Tape White. Adhere the matted photo to the middle of the layout using Crafty Foam Tape White.

Friends Scrapbook Page in Monochromatic Design by Tracy McLennon for Scrapbook Adhesives by 3L

Add the white flowers using Adhesive Dots Medium. Next, add 3D Foam Squares White Mix as embellishments themselves. They adhere to different levels of the layout for lots of monochromatic dimension.

Friends Scrapbook Page in Monochromatic Design by Tracy McLennon for Scrapbook Adhesives by 3L

These thin letter stickers were perfect for the layout. I added the first letter onto one of the raised strips, then the next in between the strips and so on.

Floral Mini Tags Tutorial

Hi everyone, Christine here today sharing with you some Floral Mini Tags, perfect to adorn little gift bags or boxes, and easily made with Scrapbook Adhesives by 3L® adhesives.

Floral Mini Tags Tutorial by Christine Emberson for Scrapbook Adhesives by 3L

Mini Tags Step Outs

To start, I  selected four white mini tags.  These were purchased but you can die-cut them too.

Using the E-Z Runner Micro Refillable Dispenser, apply diagonal strips. This clever dispenser applies strips that are only 1/8″ wide and it is centered on the liner for easy application.

Cover the mini tags with embossing powder, tap off excess and set with heat tool.

Four Striped Mini Tags

The narrowness of the tape makes the stripe design look light and delicate.

Next, I selected some die cuts, small oval, leaves, and flowers. I colored them with various distress inks.

Floral Mini Tags Tutorial by Christine Emberson for Scrapbook Adhesives by 3L

Assemble the flowers and apply 3D Foam Circles White to the reverse. Available in two sizes in each pack, the smaller circles hold tiny embellishments securely in place.

Switching to 3D Foam Squares Regular for the reverse of the larger embellishments.

I finished with an additional touch of twine and little gemstones to the flower centers.

Easter Egg Tree Card with E-Z Runner Petite

Hi everyone, Yvonne here with a cute Easter Egg Tree card. For the background, I used an intricate die-cut. The E-Z Runner® Petite Permanent Dots Refillable Dispenser is a great way to glue intricate designs onto a card without leaving glue residue. And the HomeHobby Dual Tip Glue Pen is a great tool to add tiny glittered details to your card. Let me show you how I made the card!

Easter Egg Tree Card with E-Z Runner Petite by Yvonne van de Grijp for Scrapbook Adhesives by 3L

Making the Easter Egg Tree Card

Start by mounting a piece of dotted cardstock to a yellow panel and then onto a white card base, using the E-Z Runner® Ultra Strong Refillable Dispenser to adhere all the layers.

Did you know that E-Z Runner® Petite Permanent Dots Refillable Dispenser is a great way to adhere intricate die-cuts to a card…why?  Well, because this adhesive consists of tiny dots!

Take a piece of copy paper and on top, place the silver die-cut with the backside facing up.

Simply push the lid open towards the casing and click to lock. Now you’re ready to use the E-Z Runner® Petite Permanent Dots Refillable Dispenser.

Easter Egg Tree Card with E-Z Runner Petite by Yvonne van de Grijp for Scrapbook Adhesives by 3L

Run the E-Z Runner® Petite Permanent Dots Refillable Dispenser over the back of the die-cut. When you lift up your die-cut you will see that the excess adhesive sticks to the copy paper and leaves no residue!

Easter Egg Tree Card with E-Z Runner Petite by Yvonne van de Grijp for Scrapbook Adhesives by 3L

Next, place the die-cut onto the card base and adhere. Yep…it’s that simple!

Assemble the Card

Color the stamped Easter Egg Tree image and trim with a paper trimmer to fit on top of the silver die-cut. To adhere the panel to the card base with 3D Foam Squares

Cut a banner with an Easter sentiment, using scissors, and adhere to a slightly larger banner using the E-Z Runner® Ultra Strong Refillable Dispenser

Gently bend the edges of the banner with your fingers and adhere to the card. I stacked two 3D Foam Squares White Small Size on each side. In the middle, I used three to lift it up a little extra.

Final Glitter Touch with the Dual Tip Glue Pen

The Dual Tip Glue Pen has two ends: a brush tip for larger applications and a very fine tip for precise application. Using the fine tip, I add my glitter to the details of the Easter Egg Tree. Simply add glue to the detailed designs and immediately after sprinkle clear glitter on top. Tap off the excess and let dry. Lastly, adhere rhinestones to the silver die cut.

Your Easter Tree Card is finished! Wishing you happy crafting and of course a happy Easter, Yvonne.

DIY Farmhouse Planter Box

Hi friends! Dana Tatar here today sharing how to embellish a store-bought wood planter into a piece of Springtime farmhouse décor. Spring is slowly making its way to my neighborhood. The weather is not warm enough to start planting my garden, but the sun is shining through my windows. To bring a little Spring into my indoor space I embellished a plain planter box. I added a galvanized steel word, bright yellow ribbon, and fabric daisies. If you think you need power tools and expensive hardware to create farmhouse décor, I’m here to show you a much easier option!

DIY Farmhouse Planter Box by Dana Tatar for Scrapbook Adhesives by 3L

Planter Box Basics

DIY Farmhouse Planter Box by Dana Tatar for Scrapbook Adhesives by 3L

I started this project with a 6×6 inch wood planter box. I chose a bright yellow burlap ribbon, to match the daisy flower centers, and secured it to the box with Extreme Double-Sided Tape 1/2 inch. Any color and type of ribbon will work for this step.

Farmhouse Details

DIY Farmhouse Planter Box by Dana Tatar for Scrapbook Adhesives by 3L

Once the ribbon was secured to the planter, I bent a galvanized smile stencil by hand to fit over one corner of the box.

DIY Farmhouse Planter Box by Dana Tatar for Scrapbook Adhesives by 3L

I placed Large Adhesives Dots along the top and bottom edge of the galvanized word and pressed it onto the planter. Next, I cut a piece of twine, looped it through the die-cut S, around the back of the box, and tied it into a bow, securing the end to the die-cut E. Finally, I filled the box with daisies.

The box included a zinc liner, and I plan to add live plants once the weather is a bit warmer. I hope I’ve inspired you to use your adhesives for home décor projects.
