Laced Snowflake Card Tutorial

Season’s Greetings! It’s Yvonne with a Laced Snowflake card. Lace always gives such a romantic touch to a card. Since it’s a Christmas card I added sparkle using Metallic Transfer Foil and the E-Z Runner® Petite Permanent Dots Refillable Dispenser.

Season's Greetings on a Laced Snowflake card, tutorial by Yvonne van de Grijp for Scrapbook Adhesives by 3L

Laced Snowflake Card Background

First cut a piece of blue patterned paper to a rectangular that fits your card base.

Use a ruler to make straight lines with the E-Z Runner® Petite Permanent Dots Refillable Dispenser. We will be foiling on top of the adhesive to show a design on the card front. This technique is known as “Wear Your Adhesive on the Outside.”

How do you foil? Simple! Gently rub Metallic Transfer Foil Sheets Holographic Colors with the pattern facing up, and place it over the adhesive lines made with the E-Z Runner® Petite Permanent Dots Refillable Dispenser. Rub gently and then remove the Metallic Transfer Foil Sheets.

Next cut a piece of lace wider than the paper, and fold it around the card panel. Adhere to the back side using Premium Double-Sided Tape 1/4 in.

Adhere the laced paper onto a grey cardstock panel and then onto a white card base. To adhere use the E-Z Runner® Petite Permanent Dots Refillable Dispenser.

Create the Snowflake

Die-cut snowflakes from white and gold cardstock. Then stack the snowflakes using 3D Foam Circles White Mix, they add extra dimension.

Adhere a pearl button on top using Adhesive Dots Medium Ultra Thin. Next, place the snowflake onto the laced card using Adhesive Dots Medium Ultra Thin.

Silver Beaded Circles

Making the snowy silver circles is very easy. Remove the top liner from a few 3D Foam Circles White Mix in the small size and sprinkle silver micro beads on top. Make sure to press the beads into the adhesive.

Then place the beaded circles onto the card. Yep, another medium to use to “Wear Your Adhesives on the Outside!”

Finish the card with a Season’s Greetings sentiment sticker and voila, your Laced Snowflake card is ready to be sent!

Wishing you happy crafting!

Gift Card Holders for the Holidays

Hi friends! Dana Tatar here today sharing how to make gift giving creative again with a gift card holder tutorial! I’m trying to give less stuff for the holidays and instead more ways to spend quality time together. Giving a gift card to a favorite restaurant is always the right size and provides a great opportunity to enjoy the company of friends.

Noel Wreath Christmas Gift Card Holder

I used the super cute Doodlebug Designs Christmas Magic collection for my cards, which come together in just a few simple steps. You’ll have a stack of DIY gift card holders just in time for the holiday season!

Gift Card Holder Construction

How to Cut and Fold Gift Card Holders From Patterned Paper

Use the Sizzix Slider Card Bigz L Die to cut festive patterned paper into pieces to create a gift card holder. Fold along the creased lines. Designer Note: If you don’t have this die on hand, make your own template from any gift card holder.

How to Assemble a Gift Card Holder with Petite Permanent Dots

Apply adhesive around the edge of the back side of the patterned paper that will hold the gift card using the EZ Runner Petite Permanent Dots Refillable Dispenser.

DIY Christmas Gift Card Holder with Reindeer and Heart Patterned Papers

Carefully line up the inside piece with the outer piece of the gift card holder and press to seal.

Creative Christmas Tag Toppers

How to Embellish Christmas Tags with 3D Foam Circles and Adhesive Dots

Creating dimensional Christmas tag toppers for each gift card holder is easy with the right adhesive! 3D Foam Circles are perfect for adhering buttons. Use HomeHobby by 3L Extreme Double-Sided Tape to add heavier acrylic embellishments to a tag. Micro Adhesive Dots are the perfect size to hold small bows and sequins.

How to Add Dimension to Christmas Gift Tags Using Crafty Foam Tape

Ultra Thin Adhesive Dots are great for securing bulkier lightweight items, like the plastic bow shown above. The thin transparent adhesive is not visible on the finished tag! Once the tags are finished, attach one to each gift card holder using Crafty Foam Tape.

How to Embellish the Inside of a Gift Card Holder with Die-Cuts and Thin 3D Foam Squares

Don’t forget to decorate the inside of the card. Thin 3D Foam Squares add dimension to die-cuts without too much bulk!

Joy Ornament Christmas Gift Card Holder

I hope your holiday season is full of joy! Thanks for stopping by today.

Merry Christmas Gift Tags and Tin Set

Hello friends! Judy here today with a set of Merry Christmas gift tags and a metal tin that I upcycled into a rustic farmhouse style gift set.

My inspiration for this project was a mint tin that I had just emptied. As a crafter, of course I kept it! You never know when they will be handy for a project. The Altoid tin is dark red around the lid edge, and I’m using use that as part of my color scheme. Keep reading to see how I made this!

Rustic Farmhouse Merry Christmas Gift Tags and Tin Set by Judy Hayes for Scrapbook Adhesives by 3L

Merry Christmas Gift Tags Tin

The plan is to use kraft cardstock to cover the top and insides of the tin. First, apply Adhesive Sheets to the back side of the cardstock. Then cut one piece for the top and two for the inside lid and bottom of the tin. The tin has rounded corners so I used a corner rounder punch to shape them.

Next, I stamped a text design with dark brown ink onto each piece. It is so easy to fasten the cardstock pieces to the tin by simply peeling off the Adhesive Sheet liner and pressing into place! It gives me edge to edge coverage, I have no loose edges to worry about.

Merry Christmas Gift Tags

I’m using pre-made kraft tags with strings from my stash. I trimmed a tiny bit off the bottom of each tag to fit inside the tin. Stamp each tag with the same text design and dark brown ink. To embellish the tags die-cut dark green trees. Next stamp “Merry Christmas” in white ink on red cardstock and hand-cut into strips.

Pop up the tree with 3D Foam Squares Black Mix and place on the left side of the tag. To mix up the depth, the “Merry Christmas” strip uses Thin 3D Foam Squares Black Mix.

The gold ornaments are Adhesive Dots Micro covered with the gold Metallic Transfer Foil from the 3D Foam Holiday Embellishment Kit. These were so easy to do. Apply Adhesive Dots onto the front of the tree and remove the clear liners. Cover the Adhesive Dots with gold foil, colored side up, gently rub to transfer the color and peel off. Done!

To complete the Christmas trees, tie tiny bows of twine and attach to each tree with Adhesive Dots Micro. Kraft paper and muted tones create a rustic, farmhouse look to this holiday set.

Embellishing the Cover of the Tin

The cover uses the same steps as the tags, with the exception of using Thin 3D Foam Squares Black Mix on both the Christmas tree and the Merry Christmas sentiment. Using On a scrap piece of kraft cardstock that had Adhesive Sheets on it, I handwrote “gift tags” an adhered it to the tin.

You can fit seven Merry Christmas Gift Tags in this farmhouse decorated box. Give this festive gift to neighbors, friends, co-workers and family for the holidays. It’s a great way to use up those mint tins too!

Altered Christmas Journal

Hello! Shellye McDaniel here with a fun twist on an inexpensive Christmas Journal!

Altered Christmas Journal Tutorial by Shellye McDaniel for Scrapbook Adhesives by 3L

Christmas Journal Covers

I started with a spiral-bound notebook that I found at a dollar store. The notebook includes a clear plastic cover filled with glitter and sequins.

To the plastic, I added a trim of 3/8″ ribbon using Extreme Double-Sided Tape 1/4in. Next, I punched a small hole at the top of the ribbon. I threaded the hole with red ribbon and then tied it around the bow and snowflake ornament!

For the inside cover, I chose to cover certain areas with paper piecings because the red on the cover did not match. To create the paper-piecings, I traced the areas onto a small piece of Adhesive Sheets 4×6 inch. Cut the pieces out, remove the liner and adhere as shown.

In finishing the decoration of the cover, I also added various pieces from the 3D Foam Snowflakes and embellished them with clear glitter.

The Dividers

After completing the front, I sectioned the 80 pages inside with five tabs. I simply cut a sheet of scrapbook paper to 4 x 12-inches and folded in half. Each paper partially covered a notebook page with Premium Double-Sided Tape 1/2in to create a divider page.

Create a pocket tag on each divider page by using a tag die cut and Crafty Foam Tape White. Apply the foam tape along the sides and bottom of the tag to add a smaller tag.

On each top of the divider page, placed an altered clothespin and ribbon attached with Extreme Double-Sided Tape 1/2-inch.

These notebooks make great teacher or planner-lover gifts!

Christmas Tree Window Gift Tags

Hi, all! Teri here with a tutorial to get you in the mood for the holidays! I’m going to show you how to make some Christmas tree window tags that will look awesome on your holiday packages.

Christmas Tree Window Gift Tags by Teri Anderson for Scrapbook Adhesives by 3L

Starting the Window Gift Tags

Start by cutting two identical rectangles from cardstock for each tag you want to make. Cover one rectangle with patterned paper. Use two, three or more patterns. It’s entirely up to you!

Place a triangle onto the tag and run it through your die-cutting machine.

Flip the tag upside down. Place a small panel of tulle over the opening.

Now, apply several strips of Crafty Foam Tape onto the tag. Then take the second rectangle and adhere patterned paper on it.

Mount the two panels together to make one tag. Make a tree trunk by adding a strip of cardstock at the bottom of the tree. Then adhere several white pompoms onto the tag.

Use a hole punch to poke a hole at the top of the tag. Tie some twine or ribbon through the hole. Complete the tag by stamping a sentiment onto cardstock and securing it to the tag.

Coordinating Window Gift Tags

You can easily create more tags like this by following the same design scheme.

Mix things up by using different patterned papers and sentiments.

You can also change the look of your trees by using different sized triangle dies to cut out your windows.

I hope you are inspired to make some window gift tags for your holiday gifts!

Happy creating!
Teri Anderson

Foiled Mermaid Card Tutorial

Welcome back, crafty friends! Tracy here, and today I have a fun little foiled mermaid card to share. I am using a fun foiling technique to create scales using Metallic Transfer Foils in Variety colors.

Foiled Mermaid Card Tutorial by Tracy McLennon for Scrapbook Adhesives by 3L

A Foiled Mermaid Tail

Cover a section of coordinating cardstock with E-Z Runner® Petite Permanent Dots Refillable Dispenser. Make sure it is large enough for the mermaid stamp image. Then using the teal Metallic Transfer Foil Sheets cover the adhesive with the teal side facing up, press firmly and peel back the foil to reveal the foiled mermaid tail.

Repeat the same process with the E-Z Runner® Petite Permanent Dots Refillable Dispenser and Metallic Transfer Foil Sheets for the tail fin and the seashell top, this time using the purple foil to create the foiled scales.

Next, using the stamp and black permanent ink, stamp the images on top of the foiled sections. Fussy cut the foiled and stamped sections.

Easy Foil Scales

Inking the Background

Create a simple blended background using water-reactive ink and a blending tool, going from the light inside to dark on the outside.

I splattered the blended background with water and let dry and then stamped the sentiment in the corner with black ink.

Adhere the background to the pink cardstock mat using the E-Z Runner® Petite Permanent Dots Refillable Dispenser, then adhere that to the white cardstock base using Crafty Foam Tape White, so it has a little bit of dimension between the layers.

Stamp the mermaid image once more onto white cardstock and add colour to the remaining sections using alcohol markers. Fussy cut out the coloured section.

Add the fussy cut foiled mermaid image to the card using 3D Foam Squares Small White Size. Using glitter glue, add some sparkle to the seashell and the mermaid’s headband. I also added a line around the edge of the pink cardstock layer.

Pumpkin Patch Pocket Page Tutorial

Hi, Connie here! When I scrapbook a page, I like to include ALL the photos of that event. Today I have a scrapbook page with a pocket designed to hold a lot of photos. That is where the pocket comes in.

When creating a pocket to hold photos you need strong adhesives, Scrapbook Adhesives by 3L® to the rescue!

Pumpkin Patch Pocket Page Tutorial by Connie Mercer for Scrapbook Adhesives by 3L

Making a Pocket Full of Photos

Step 1 Pumpkin Patch Pocket Page by Connie Mercer for Scrapbook Adhesives by 3L

The filmstrip idea is perfect for showcasing many photos on a page. 16 photos tell my story!!

Step 2 Pumpkin Patch Pocket Page by Connie Mercer for Scrapbook Adhesives by 3L

There are two ways to create the filmstrip look: use a stamp like I have, or with cardstock and a white gel pen.

To use the latter method, double mat photos on white and black cardstock. With a white gel pen create the filmstrip slots on the black cardstock.

Step 3 Pumpkin Patch Pocket Page by Connie Mercer for Scrapbook Adhesives by 3L

I stamped four images with a filmstrip stamp and black ink. Then cut the stamped design down the middle to create a left side strip and a right side strip. With the Extreme Double-Sided Tape 1/4in., add a line of tape on each side. Refer to the photos to show how the photo filmstrips come together.

Step 4 Pumpkin Patch Pocket Page by Connie Mercer for Scrapbook Adhesives by 3L

Create the Pocket Page

The next step is to create the pocket page. Layer patterned paper along with coordinating cardstock to create the scrapbook page front with the E-Z Runner® Grand Refillable Dispenser. Add the zig-zag border to the top and bottom of the pocket. Using the Extreme Double-Sided Tape 1/4in. to both sides and the bottom of the pocket. Adhere to page.

Pumpkin Patch Pocket Page by Connie Mercer for Scrapbook Adhesives by 3L Step 5

Take a few 3D Foam Squares White in Regular size to adhere to the pumpkins to the front of the pocket.

Pumpkin Patch Pocket Page by Connie Mercer for Scrapbook Adhesives by 3L Step 6

Apply the Dual Tip Glue Pen to adhere the leaves to the pumpkins along with the title of the page. Add stickers to enhance the clusters of pumpkins.

Step 7 Pumpkin Patch Pocket Page by Connie Mercer for Scrapbook Adhesives by 3L

Grab and add a vintage library card and envelope for the journal spot.  You need a special place to tell the story.

Step 8 Pumpkin Patch Pocket Page by Connie Mercer for Scrapbook Adhesives by 3L

Accent a corner of the envelope with one of the Creative Photo Corners Black. I hope I’ve inspired you to scrap enough photos to tell your story even if that is 16 photos.

Snowy Christmas Card with 3D Foam Circles

Hi everyone, Yvonne here with a cute snowy Christmas card. I added 3D Foam Circles  White Mix for an easy and fun glittered snowy effect on the card. This technique is known as Wear Your Adhesive on the Outside. Using this technique, you can perfectly match embellishments to your holiday cards. I’ll show you in detail in my tutorial.

Apply E-Z Runner® Grand Refillable Dispenser over the back of the glittered paper. Make sure to run the E-Z Runner® Grand Refillable Dispenser along the bottom straight edgee so that a die cut can be tucked in between the layers.

Step 2 Snowy Christmas Card with 3D Foam Circles by Yvonne van de Grijp for Scrapbook Adhesives by 3L

Then adhere the layers to a piece of white cardstock. Next cut off the excess parts using scissors. Then trim the card panel to the desired size using a paper trimmer.

Adhering Santa and Friends with Depth

By using the various thicknesses of 3D Foam Squares, you can add depth to your card.  The Santa die cut is adhered with 3D Foam Squares White Mix. For a subtle depth, I secured the elves with Thin 3D Foam Squares White Mix. Thin 3D Foam is half the height of the regular 3D Foam. See this post comparing 3D Foam for more details. Note the cute girl elf gift box were tucked in between the hilly layers.

Cornucopia Favors for Thanksgiving

Hi friends! Dana Tatar here today sharing how to create cornucopia favors for Thanksgiving. I’ve hosted Thanksgiving many times, and there always seems to be some unforeseen delays no matter how well I plan. These colorful favors add a festive element to your tablescape and guests can enjoy a sweet treat to help tide them over until the main meal is served.

Mini Cornucopia Thanksgiving Favors with Foiled Letters and Colorful Leaves

I love to create projects that are fun to touch! Caning isn’t just for furniture! Its flexibility when softened makes it really fun to craft with. I added color to this cornucopia project with die-cut leaves, tissue paper, and Metallic Transfer Foil, Holographic colors.

Creating Cornucopias from Caning

How To Cut Caning For Crafts

Use scissors to cut rectangles of caning to measure about 7 inches by 4.5 inches.

How to Cut Caning to Create Mini Cornucopias

Use scissors to cut away the bottom left and right corners as shown.

How to Soften Caning with Water

Soak the caning pieces in water for 3 to 5 minutes until pliable.

How to Mold Caning into Mini Cornucopias

Roll the caning pieces into a cornucopia shape and secure with string. Let the caning dry overnight. When the string is cut away the caning holds its shape.

Festive Accents

How to Secure Paper Leaves to Cornucopias with Micro Adhesive Dots

Adhere colorful die-cut paper leaves to the underside of each cornucopia using Micro Adhesive Dots.

How to Add Holographic Foil to Chipboard Letters Using Adhesive Sheets

Cut small squares from an Adhesive Sheet. Remove the yellow liner and press the adhesive onto the bottom of chipboard letters. Peel away the back liner and cover the adhesive with Holographic Metallic Transfer Foil. Lift off the foil to reveal the foiled letters.

How to Embellish Thanksgiving Favors Using 3D Foam Circles

Secure a foiled letter to each cornucopia using Small 3D Foam Circles.

Mini Cornucopia Thanksgiving Favor with Foiled Letters and Colorful Leaves

Insert a contrasting color of tissue paper into each cornucopia and fill with a treat.

Until next time!
