Creating a Textured Background Tutorial – You’re a Rare Find Card

Hello Saturday crafters! It’s Angela today, sharing a technique that I use a lot, particularly with clean and simple cards to create some visual interest-a textured background from Scrapbook Adhesives by 3L Adhesive Sheet and tissue paper! You can see the technique used on this card:

To recreate this unique winter card, here are the steps:

1. Cut a 4 x 5.25 inch rectangle from white card stock.

2. Apply the Adhesive Sheet to the smooth side of the card stock (if textured).

3. Crumple the tissue paper and then spread flat on your work surface. Remove the card stock rectangle from the Adhesive Sheet and place adhesive side down on the tissue paper. Flip over.

4. Tear the excess tissue paper down and away from the edges of the card stock. Sand any uneven pieces off the edge with sandpaper or a nail file. Round the corners.

5. Using 3D Foam Squares, mount the textured piece to a 4.25 x 5.5 inch top folding card base.

6. Stamp and emboss the image and sentiment stamp. Color the image. Use the smaller of 2 nesting circle dies to cut out the image.

7. Cut the larger circle die from coordinating patterned paper. Adhere the image to the patterned paper with E-Z Runner® Permanent Strips adhesive.

8. Use 3D Foam Squares to attach the matted image to the card base.

9. Crease the end of the sentiment strip 2x and fold on itself to form a banner. Cut a triangle from each end. Use 3D Foam Squares on the center sections and permanent adhesive from an E-Z Runner Permanent Strips on the end sections. Adhere to card base as per the photo.

Autumn Layouts – Lawn Fawn Day 5

Welcome to the blog hop with Scrapbook Adhesives by 3L® and Lawn Fawn!

It’s Stephanie here today and I made two layouts with the wonderful Lawn Fawn “Into the Woods” collection for this blog hop.

1) Layout Traditions

Stephanie_Layout_traditions_1Our family tradition is to look for acorns, woods and chestnuts zu tinker little wood-manikins from it. For this layout I used the wonderful paper collection “Into the Woods” and matching sequins and buttons from Lawn Fawn. You can also see some Designer Shapes Leaves from Scrapbook Adhesives by 3l with added brown glitter from Stampendous.

Stephanie_Layout_traditions_22) Layout “Hello”

Stephanie_Layout_hello_1I used a little Keepsake Envelopes from Scrapbook Adhesives by 3L® to put some color matching sequins in it. I’m so in love with the envelopes. They comes in different sizes, perfect to keep some memories together with the layout.

Stephanie_Layout_hello_2For these layouts I used following supplies from Scrapbook Adhesives by 3L®:

3D Foam Leaves, 3D Foam Squares, Keepsake Envelopes, E-Z Runner® Permanent Strips

Lawn Fawn Blog Hop Day 4 – Candy Cane Treat Box

Hi everyone, this week we are hopping with Lawn Fawn, I couldn’t wait to use their adorable stamps to make something festive!  I chose to create a little box to house candy canes, these would look good nestled in your Christmas tree or labelled as table favours.

CEmberson - CCane Gift Box 1

To create the open top box I scored a piece of green card and cut small notches in one end for box folds.

CEmberson - CCane Gift Box 2

To assemble I used  E-Z Runner® Permanent Strips Refillable.

CEmberson - CCane Gift Box 3

To create the box decoration I used the tag from the Lawn Fawn stamp set – Winter Gifts.  Stamped in brown onto kraft card and then a sentiment in red.  I tucked the tag under a strip of patterned festive paper.

CEmberson - CCane Gift Box 4

For the all important Christmas sparkle I sprinkled embossing powder over 3D Foam Stars and heat set them.  These look lovely layered together.

CEmberson - CCane Gift Box 5

The finished project – simple and festive and full of treats to eat!

Lawn Fawn Blog Hop Day 1 – Thank You Card

Today is Day 1 of our Blog Hop with the fabulous Lawn Fawn!

My card today combines several fun adhesives and two stamp sets!

Beth Pingry Lawn Fawn Card 1I wasn’t really trying to make a holiday card, but I think the colors work, with the glittered 3D Foam Stars in red.

BethPingry-LawnFawn-2The doily tucked into the corner adds a delicate touch, and the fussy cut stamped image on the polka dot paper makes it a little bit whimsical.

DIY Christmas Ornament with Creative Photo Corners

Hello everyone! It’s Asia King.  The project I am sharing today is perfect for the season. I’ve made a DIY bauble ornament for my Christmas tree. DIY meaning here – decorate it yourself. My leading embellishment is probably not one that you’d normally think of for this but it’s really surprising what you can achieve with it. Well, see for yourself – and let me know what you think!

Photo corners DIY Christmas bauble ornament

Making the Bauble Ornament

For my ornament I used Creative Photo Corners in Gold – lots  and lots of them! I used 4 packets for this project. Simply adhere them to a foam bauble in horizontal layers. The permanent adhesive on the Creative Photo Corners worked really well on the foam and I did not need to add anything else. My layers were also tight enough to keep the whole ‘structure’ secure.

When I got to the top I simply attached some ribbon to create a bow and a hanger, a glittered 3D Foam Snowflake – and secured it all with decorative pins. And that’s it! Super easy but so much fun!

Photo corners bauble_Asia King2

Although I created a Christmas bauble, you can take this idea so much further. How about some pine cones or Easter eggs? And if you don’t have enough corners in the same colour, don’t worry! Simply paint them or heat emboss them to match :).

Happy Christmas crafting!

Big crafty hugs

A Christmas Card with a Special Tree

Hi everyone! It’s Kelly Klapstein here for the final day of blog hopping with May Arts this week. I’m going to celebrate the final day of the blog hop by sharing a Christmas card, featuring some beautiful May Arts ribbons:

KellyKlapstein-mayarts-1

This gorgeous red glittery wide ribbon is perfect for the holiday season.  Plus, it is soft and pliable to make bow tying really easy!

KellyKlapstein-mayarts-2

The burlap ribbon works really well as my tree trunk. I just love the natural texture!

KellyKlapstein-mayarts-3

I actually designed this card with that wonderful glittery red ribbon as my inspiration and decided to make a glitter Christmas tree, using 3D Foam Pennants.

On a piece of cream card stock, I lined up the triangular pennants, spaced apart.

KellyKlapstein-mayarts-8

It only took a minute to build up the tree.

KellyKlapstein-mayarts-9

I used two shades of green glitter and alternated covering the  triangles.

KellyKlapstein-mayarts-10

I left the adhesive backing on the three pennants while I covered the others with dark green glitter.  Then I peeled off the remaining backing and added the lighter green glitter.

KellyKlapstein-mayarts-11

I used some Crafty Power Tape to adhere the May Arts burlap ribbon to a strip of cream card stock.

KellyKlapstein-mayarts-6

The layers of paper on the card were adhered with my personalized MyStik® Permanent Strips.

KellyKlapstein-mayarts-5

I trimmed around the card stock edges of the finished tree and adhered it to the card using 3D Foam Squares.

KellyKlapstein-mayarts-4

I love adding sparkle to my Christmas cards, so the combination of glitter and sparkly May Arts ribbon really makes me happy!

Gift Tag with May Arts

We are hopping with May Arts this week! Please comment on this post and then visit May Arts to comment on their post too!

One thing that I absolutely love to make are tags.  Especially this time of year.  I need tags for everything!  Today I am showing an easy way to add a tag to a bag.

3L LY Nov12 MayArts bag-tag

Once I had my tag stamped, I used the E_Z Runner Permanent Strips, and added a strip at the bottom of my tag, I then sprinkled red glitter over the top.  This grounds the tag a little and adding sparkle at the same time.

3L LY Nov12 MayArts bag-tag2

Next, I added a few different types of May Arts trims, the stitched burlap, and silk ribbons.

3L LY Nov12 MayArts bag-tag3

Since I am adding this to a bag, I really want it to stay put.  So I added Scrapbook Adhesives by 3L 3D Foam squares to the back of the tag.

3L LY Nov12 MayArts bag-tag4

Adhere to the bag, and it is completed.

Kimberly Crawford gold ornament 1Hello everyone! Kimberly here today with a beautiful Christmas gift. One that is perfect to give anyone in your life! These ornaments are elegant, classy, and ridiculously easy to create with the fabulous adhesives from Scrapbook Adhesives by 3L and stunning ribbon from May Arts.

Kimberly Crawford gold ornament 2Let’s start with the wrapping of the gift. I created this box by hand and held it securely together with Crafty Power Tape. The outside is a simple sleeve of green chevron paper. To keep the sleeve in place, I used gorgeous, thick red metallic ribbon from May Arts.

Kimberly Crawford gold ornament 3And the inside of the box…three beautiful ornaments! These are so simple to create. Take a look at the steps below.

Kimberly Crawford gold ornament 4Grab ornaments of any kind, color, style. Wipe them clean with rubbing alcohol. It removes any oil from finger prints and other resides that could stop the adhesive from staying put. Then pick out die templates with images you desire. And grab your trusty 4×6″ Adhesive Sheets.

Die cut the adhesive sheet with the die template, using a manual die cutting machine.

Kimberly Crawford gold ornament 5I found it easiest to remove the yellow backing and then apply it to the ornament. Smooth the die cut image out, making sure the adhesive is completely on the ornament surface. Peel off the white backing slowly.

Tip: Peel each spoke of the snowflake towards the center, one at a time. Then remove the entire piece.

Kimberly Crawford gold ornament 6

Touch the surface of the exposed adhesive with gold foil. Repeat until you have the coverage desired.

Kimberly Crawford gold ornament 7

The finished ornament. And then I noticed the not-so-pretty ribbon that came with the ornament. That was never going to do. May Arts has so many lovely ribbons, I found one that was perfect! Now the gifts were complete!

Kimberly Crawford gold ornament 8

There you have it. A simple and beautiful gift ready to give for Christmas. Or, you could always just make them for your own tree! 😉

thanks for stopping by!
