Mosaic Heart with 3D Foam Squares

Hi everyone, Christine here today with a mosaic heart card made entirely with  3D Foam Squares White Regular.

Mosaic Heart with 3D Foam Squares by Christine Emberson for Scrapbook Adhesives by 3L

A Mosaic Heart Tutorial

Firstly cut through the 3D Foam Squares White Regular diagonally to create triangles. Tip: try to keep them as even as possible, it really helps when building your mosaic design.

Next, remove the top sheets to expose the sticky surface and cover with embossing powder, tap off the excess and set with a heat gun.  It sets really quickly and creates a lovely surface.

Prepare more 3D Foam Squares White Regular with different color embossing powders.

Take a piece of craft card and begin to make out your design.  I used a ruler to align the first triangles.

Keep building the pattern with different colors. I particularly like this pastel color combination of pink, gold, and silver.  You could, of course, go for bold and bright.

I chose a geometric heart, there are many patterns available.

Attach to a card front.  I pre-printed the card sentiment by typing and running it through my printer.  The finished design, truly lots of fun to make.

DIY Summertime Pinwheel Wreath

Summertime is upon us and if you’re in need of a refreshing DIY project sure to brighten up the long, hot days then you’re in luck! Hi friends, Linsey here today sharing a fun craft perfect for getting the kids off the couch and be creative! Come along and see how I made this fresh and fun pinwheel wreath!

DIY Summertime Pinwheel Wreath by Linsey Rickett for Scrapbook Adhesives by 3L

There is some great pinwheel wreath inspiration on Pinterest and I was inspired by it all! My wreath came together rather easily using a few different Scrapbook Adhesives by 3L® and this cheerful summertime-themed paper collection.

Making Summertime Pinwheels

Using various summer themed patterned papers, I cut 4 x 4″ squares to make a total of approximately 20-22 squares for a small wreath form.

Next, fold squares in half to make a triangle and then unfold. Repeat on opposite side.

Cut each of the 4 corners about 1/2 to the center using the fold lines as a guide. Now fold every other corner and adhere to the center with  E-Z Runner® Grand Refillable Dispenser and E-Z Runner® Grand Ultra Strong Refill.

Did you know it takes seconds to refill our E-Z Runner Grand Dispensers? View a short view on How to Use and Refill the E-Z Runner Grand Dispensers.

A center decoration is optional and I chose to add brightly colored gem circles to the centers of all my pinwheels. The Adhesive Dots Micro were the perfect size for the gem circles and they adhered to the center of each pinwheel.

Creating the Wreath

The wreath form was covered with Adhesive Sheets 12×12 inch and the pinwheels arranged and adhered accordingly.

Placing a single row of pinwheels around the form is ok, but I placed my pinwheels in 2 rows, leaving a few gaps for the ribbons and chipboard title embellishment to be added with 3D Foam Circles White Mix and 3D Foam Squares White Mix. This simply makes for a more full wreath and either way will look great!

Thanks for stopping by! I hope my festive summertime pinwheel wreath has you spinning with inspiration and ideas for making your very own! Until next time, happy crafting!

How to Add A Shaker Element to a Scrapbook Layout

What is one thing you look to achieve as you are designing a scrapbook layout?  Of course, there are the memories being captured and the photos shining, but when you go beyond that, what’s your design goal. For me, it’s always to add a unique touch to my layout, a clever twist that the audience perhaps hasn’t seen before! Today I am sharing how I used the Keepsake Envelopes to accomplish that goal. Check them out on this beach vacation layout where I turned Keepsake Envelopes into a Sunshine Shaker.

How to Add a Shaker to a Scrapbook Layout using Keepsake Envelopes from Scrapbook Adhesives by 3L
Shaker Elements can add a touch of whimsy to a layout.  In this case, I created my photo block and the central focus of my layout but knew I needed something extra to really make my layout stand out.  I used a circle cutter and just cut out a small circle.

After I cut the circle I backed it with a Keepsake Envelope.  I backed the Keepsake Envelope with Yellow Cardstock (the same one that I used for my sun rays) and filled it with golden glitter. I secured it to the back of my layout using my E-Z Runner Grand. It’s not as complicated as it sounds in writing!  Check out my full process video for a quick walk thru of it:

Shaker Element Process Video

Beyond the Keepsake Envelopes, I used a couple additional adhesives to really pull this layout together. My Dual Tip Glue Pen secures all my sun rays. Additionally, I made my chipboard elements and my photos pop up a little bit more using Crafty Foam Tape and 3D Foam Squares. Of course, you’d be hard pressed to find me creating without my E-Z Runner Grand close at hand – that is my go-to piece most days!

Thanks so much for joining me today – be sure to share with us if you create a Shaker Element on your Scrapbook Layouts – we’d love to see your twist on it!

Hello Hugs Layout with Adhesive Lines

Good morning, Shannon here, sharing a layout using Adhesive Lines today! There were a lot of milestones to document this year for our family – Mack’s graduation and official entry into high school were one of them.

Pictures of family are my favorite to document.  Mack and Ba (my mom) certainly made this picture special. Highlighting the photo became the focus of my layout. Specifically choosing and using bright colors and simple layers is a great way to highlight the photo. You too can create a similar layout if you apply some of the tips I am sharing today.

Hello Hugs Layout with Adhesive Lines by Shannon Morgan for Scrapbook Adhesives by 3L

Framing the Layout

You’ll need to gather some basic scrapping supplies, like papers, embellishments and of course adhesives. I started out, weeding through my stash and picking things that I had hoarded. Don’t wait for that perfect layout, card or project, use your supplies!

First of all, let’s get started using those Adhesive Lines.  Have you ever wondered what to do with those paper strips at the bottom of your 12X12 sheets of paper? They make great “frames”, as in, framing out a layout. Even better? I adhere the strips a little off center, ensuring that it’s ok to be “perfectly imperfect”.

The Adhesive Lines are a perfect tool to get this framing done. In addition to being a great detail that packs a lot of punch, this “framing” truly helps you line up your photo as well. Tip: If you’d like your framing strips to match, simply cut strips of a patterned paper or cardstock of your choice.

Layering Your Photo

The photo needed to be the stand out in this layout, complimenting the title. Simple layering is/was the key to this. You’ll notice in the photo, I used complimentary patterns in different colors, primarily creating visual interest and dimension. The photo is oddly sized, for the reason that it was taken on a phone and not with a camera. There are a total of five layers backing the photo, ideally, this is personal preference, you can simply use my example as a guide or inspiration.

Using the E-Z Runner® Grand Refillable Dispenser, of course makes layering a snap. If you are happy with your layers, adhere the photo to the layout. Additionally, you can begin to work on the rest of your details. There was space deliberately left to the side of the photo for a large title.

Adding Details

In order to keep it simple, yet detailed, the title is big. Coupled with bright colors and 3D Foam Squares, this title draws your eye to the photo. Once you have the title adhered, begin adding additional touches. Details matter, add as many or as little as you’d prefer, your projects are uniquely you.

Close Ups

3D Foam Squares in detail, certainly add the right pop needed for the layout. At this angle, you can also see the layers I shared with you before.

Now that I’ve shared all these tips and photos with you, create something beautiful!

Forecast: Snow Flurries & A Reindeer

Happy Saturday!  Shellye McDaniel along today with a Christmas in July Forecast: Snow Flurries & A Reindeer…a themed card that is!  It’s never too late to start working on your Christmas cards and this one is a doll!

Snow Card Basics

On a 5 x 7″ card base, I attached a 4.75 x 6.75″ card panel to the card base, using the E-Z Runner® Grand Refillable Dispenser loaded with the E-Z Runner® Grand Permanent Dots Refill. This is my go-to for card-making!

Here’s a short view on How to Use and Refill E-Z Runner Grand Dispensers

Then I’ve attached a 4.25 x 6.25″ black/white trees patterned paper with Crafty Foam Tape Black (13′). I used several strips of the Crafty Foam Tape to prevent the paper from collapsing between the strips.

Next, I added the beautiful snowflake printed vellum that was burnished. When you attach vellum, it can be a little tricky. I chose to place different sized 3D Foam Berries (from the 3D Foam Holiday Embellishment Kit) over the center of each snowflake.

To embellish the centers of the snowflakes, I used various sizes of Adhesive Dots (Adhesive Dots SmallMedium, and  Large).

After removing the protective film from the Adhesive Dots, I sprinkled iridescent glitter over the tops. Just press the glitter to secure and tap off the excess. Love the results – beautiful sparkly snow!

Finishing Up

Lastly, I further embellished the card with a cute reindeer that I had stamped and watercolored.  To attach the reindeer, I used the 3D Foam Circles White Mix, along with other die-cuts.  I placed a 3D Foam Star (from the 3D Foam Holiday Embellishment Kit) and added silver glitter to the top of it, just below the bow.

For the most part, using vellum is easy, especially when you have great adhesive options from Scrapbook Adhesives!

Dimensional Brushstroke Flowers Hello Card

Today I’m sharing a dimensional card using a mix of 3D Foam Squares – White Mix and Thin 3D Foam Squares White Mix to bring cheer to someone special. There’s a nice variance of dimension when using both 3D Foam Squares and Thin 3D Foam Squares 🙂

Dimensional Brushstroke Flowers Hello Card by Judy Hayes for Scrapbook Adhesives by 3L

Create a Dimensional Card

Start with a 4.5 x 6.5 inch white card base and cut printed paper to fit card front. Next, angle cut black cardstock across the card front. Then cut a green mat to layer behind black cardstock.

Fasten all together and to card front with E-Z Runner® Grand Refillable Dispenser with E-Z Runner® Grand Permanent Dots Refill.

It’s so easy to switch out the refills to use your favorite adhesive! Take a look at this quick view on How to Use and Refill an E-Z Runner Grand Dispensers below.

Stamp all the brushstroke flowers and leaves and die cut them with coordinating dies.  Apply 3D Foam Squares – White Mix to some flowers and Thin 3D Foam Squares White Mix to others for different levels of dimension.

The Embellished Details

Arrange flowers and leaves on the card.  Use E-Z Runner® Grand Refillable Dispenser with E-Z Runner® Grand Permanent Dots Refill to fasten branches. Fasten flowers. Use Thin 3D Foam Squares White Mix to fasten individual leaves.

Stamp “a note to say” and “hello” with black ink.  Trim around each one. Apply Thin 3D Foam Squares White Mix to back of “a note to say”.

Use 3D Foam Squares – White Mix on back of “hello”.  This gives a little different dimension to make “hello” stand out more.

Fasten both to the card front and it’s ready to be sent!

DIY Tag Bookmarks

Hi, everyone! Do you like to read? Got a child who does? Make reading more fun this Summer by making some DIY Tag Bookmarks. These bookmarks are easy to make with stamps, cardstock, and products from Scrapbook Adhesives by 3L.

DIY Tag Bookmarks by Teri Anderson for Scrapbook Adhesives by 3L

Making a DIY Tag Bookmark

Start by cutting a  2 1/4″ x 3 1/2″ panel of cardstock. You can use any color you want.

Decorate the cardstock panel with stamps, patterned paper, die-cuts and, even, stickers! (In my case, I used just stamps and patterned paper.) A word to the wise: You want your panel to remain flat so you should refrain from adding any bulky embellishments to it.

Pull out a Self-Laminating Card Pouch. You want to make sure you’re using a small sized pouch. Open it up and place your card on the clear side.

Remove the white paper from the other side of the pouch and seal the pouch. Use your hand or bone folder to smooth out any bubbles that might have occurred when you sealed the pouch!

Complete your DIY tag bookmark by using a hole punch to poke a hole through it and add some yarn. Not a fan of yarn? Use twine, jute, ribbon or a scrap of fabric instead.

Like the results? Try it again but mix things up by decorating future tag bookmarks with slightly different supplies! Another idea? If you are giving your DIY tag bookmarks away, consider writing personalized notes on the back of cards before you laminate them.

DIY Mosaic Background with Click ‘n Stick

Hi! Dana Tatar here today sharing a colorful layout that was super fun to create. I played with pattern and color to create a mosaic background from patterned paper squares for my scrapbook layout. I was inspired to create a mosaic element from a similar scrapbook design by Paige Taylor Evans.

DIY Mosaic Background with Click 'n Stick by Dana Tatar for Scrapbook Adhesives by 3L

The Click ‘n Stick™ Mounting Squares saved me a lot of time when putting together this background. I cut a piece of colorful scrapbook paper into 1/2-inch squares to assemble the mosaic feature. The mounting squares measure 0.4 inches square, so my paper squares were just a little bit larger, which allowed for some wiggle room.

How to Assemble a Mosaic Background

DIY Mosaic Background with Click 'n Stick by Dana Tatar for Scrapbook Adhesives by 3L

Begin by cutting 1/2-inch squares from a piece of patterned paper. I chose a solid piece of cardstock to use for the base of my tile design that measured 9×9.5 inches. I cut 240 patterned paper squares to build my colorful background. The Click ‘n Stick™ dispenser-box easily apply double-sided adhesive squares. This touch-free adhesive is ready to use, without fussy tabs to remove.

View a quick video on How to Use Click ‘n Stick Adhesive below.

I first attached a row of squares across the top of my cardstock base. I then repeated the process down one side of the cardstock. These two rows of squares served as my guidelines. I was then able to quickly fill in the mosaic design. I didn’t worry about lining up the squares exactly. A slightly off-center position adds some “movement” to what would be a very static layout.

Finishing Touches

DIY Mosaic Background with Click 'n Stick by Dana Tatar for Scrapbook Adhesives by 3L

I used the E-Z Runner® Grand Refillable Dispenser with the Permanent Dots Refill to attach die-cuts across the center of the page. To add dimension to my design I used Crafty Foam Tape to attach the photo to the page. Lastly, I added a White Photo Corner to the top of the photo.

Thanks so much for stopping by today! I hope I have inspired you to create your own paper-pieced background.

How to Create DIY Colored Crepe Paper Flowers

Hello again crafters! Terri here, with an easy DIY project that turns ordinary white crepe paper rolls into beautifully colored crepe flowers! I’ve got a quick video at the end as well, showing you how to easily spin and twirl these pretty blossoms. Let’s get started, shall we?

How to Create DIY Crepe Paper Flowers by Terri Burson for Scrapbook Adhesives by 3L

Gather Your Tools

First let’s gather our coloring tools and supplies.  You will need:

Coloring the Crepe Paper

1.  Add water to a large glass bowl or pie plate to just barely cover the bottom with water.  It’s important that you do not overfill or over-saturate the crepe paper. Spritz several times with a variety of ink sprays into the water and stir gently.

How to Create DIY Crepe Paper Flowers by Terri Burson for Scrapbook Adhesives by 3L

2.  Dip the entire roll of white crepe paper face down into the mixture, soaking up most or all of the water.

How to Create DIY Crepe Paper Flowers by Terri Burson for Scrapbook Adhesives by 3L

3.  Now, spritz a little more spray into the empty pie plate and dip the crepe paper into the added mixture. I chose to only use my darkest shade of purple for this step. As you can see, the watercolored mixture will begin soaking up about halfway down the side of the roll. Do not soak the entire roll.

This roll needs to dry. I did not want to risk using a heat tool and burning my crepe paper. Find a warm, sunny spot in your house and let dry naturally on a cookie rack. This may take a day, possibly two. Or, you could do like I did and let it sit on the dash of your car in the hot sun while you’re at work!

Rolling the Flowers

4.  Next, place the E-Z Runner® Grand Repositionable Dots Refill cartridge into your E-Z Runner® Grand Refillable Dispenser. Using repositionable adhesive make it easier to repair any mistakes by unrolling and re-rolling your strips of crepe paper.

How to Create DIY Crepe Paper Flowers by Terri Burson for Scrapbook Adhesives by 3L

5.  Cut 3 strips of crepe paper to desired length for one flower. I cut approximately 14″ for each strip. The more strips you use, the larger your bloom. You can also use just one strip for very small blossoms.

How to Create DIY Crepe Paper Flowers by Terri Burson for Scrapbook Adhesives by 3L

6. Apply your Repositionable Dots adhesive along the length of the crepe paper strips, on the bottom, non-colored portion. The advantage of using the E-Z Runner® Grand Repositionable Dots Refill is that it won’t tear your crepe paper. Yet, it magically holds everything together. Wow!

How to Create DIY Crepe Paper Flowers by Terri Burson for Scrapbook Adhesives by 3L

7.  Begin rolling, in the direction that is most comfortable for you. As you roll, you will want to pinch and gather the bottom after each turn, to help form your shape.

Crepe Flower Buds

As you can see below, this is the size of a blossom with just one strip of colored, crepe paper. You can view my short video at the end of this post, if you’d like to see the rolling in action.

How to Create DIY Crepe Paper Flowers by Terri Burson for Scrapbook Adhesives by 3L

You can easily peel your flowers off the wooden dowel for use in a decorative bowl, or you can leave in place and decorate your dowel for use in a vase. If you like, you can embellish your flowers even further by adding a touch of glue from the Dual Tip Glue Pen along the line of your petals, and dusting with extra fine glitter.

You’ll see me talk about this in the video below.

How to Create DIY Crepe Paper Flowers by Terri Burson for Scrapbook Adhesives by 3L

I’m so excited about the possibilities that this opens up, by coloring your crepe flowers!  Using the E-Z Runner® Grand Repositionable Dots Refill to achieve this makes all the difference.  No worries about tearing your crepe paper either! Check out my video below, if you’d like to see how easy it is to roll these crepe flowers in just  3 minutes or less! If I can do it, you can do it! Lastly, stop by my blog, Waving My Wand, if you’d like product links for the craft items that I used today.  See you next time….  Terri
